Thanks! Charity shop it is. Rain stopped chores here and we have started sorting through some boxes. Its like pulling teeth sorting through junk here, but its got to be done. One box at a time is killing me. Tbh I'd be happy to put it all in a skip at this point in time,0 -

And me, and me!!!
Mind you, I do far more lurking than posting at the moment, but I still read every post!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

Any advice on the pros and cons of ducks vs chickens would be great please guys & girls!
Oooh Phoebe, someone else whose user name is linked to a Persian! My Elisey bit is the end part of my (departed) Persian's pedigree name. He passed on last year but is still much missed (although we now have Fudge, an Exotic Shorthair).
I too would vote for chickens. We had ducks when I was small but my mum remembers them being messy, whereas chickens are easier to deal with in the rear end department - unless they have been eating vast quantities of fallen cherries off our tree :mad: :rotfl:. Can you guess how I know that?? Ours have shown they're good for something today by unearthing some potatoes planted by our eldest son. We had no idea that they were anywhere near ready! :T
A very satisfying lunch today made with our own eggs, yellow stickered sweet peppers from the Co-op, a courgette which had been hanging around for ages, bacon, baby plum tomatoes, a few slices of chorizo, an onion, and a handful of french beans and peas out of the garden. My take on a spanish omelette.
Not to mention the fact that we are cherried out... even the chickens are starting to turn their beaks up at them :rotfl:"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
We had a gorgeous black persian too
He came to us as a rescue cat and he had the sweetest nature. I really miss him, although we have been really lucky that all our cats have been affectionate and very endearing.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Our cherries were about 3 weeks ago and the birds had the lot, but they were small because of the dry weather.
On the subject of chickens, may I ask if anyone with experience has found that they race around the outside of their shed/coop when they know a treat is coming? We have 'corn time' in the late afternoon, and as soon as DW opens the door to fetch the container, the chooks race around outside.
I suppose the Vorwerks start it, as they can't just stay still and wait patiently, and then the others see them running and chase after. It's a mad dash, with each hen trying to get to the front, but as they're running in a circle, they never do!:rotfl::rotfl:
I only ask because a chicken-keeping friend witnessed this today and found it highly amusing, saying hers have never done anything like that.0 -
