Crikey, this thread has been moving some! I go out for half a day.....:p

Welcome phoebe :hello:...we've met elsewhere, haven't we?
Good to know you've got your house by the sea too FC.
I kept meaning to pop over to the other thread and at least follow it as a lurker, but as you can see, I can barely keep up with this one! :o:o

If it helps, rainbow, I'm a member of Freegle, which was no bother to join.

Our half day out yesterday was to visit a newly-opened nature reserve, created in old clay workings near Holsworthy. It was just a bit of inspiration-seeking really. There's a good range of environments there, so a huge number of insects, especially butterflies. (and the inevitable clegs!:rotfl: ) Anyway, it made me keen to add a few extra insect-friendly wild flowers to my mini woodland and rough grass area.

Here's a photo which shows how harsh and arid some of the higher landscape still is (with a few Exmoor ponies too, I think!) The lower land behind is full of woods, most of them open to the public, so we have plenty to explore. The clouds behind look as if they are building up to something, because they were; we had a huge series of thunderstorms pass over an hour or so after returning home, with violent, but short-lived rain. :)

    Morning all:j:j:j

bit the pullet yesterday and phone the window people, who made some windows for my parents old place. so they will be coming out to give us a quote on windows, and the stable front doors I would like, so at least I have some prices to compare.

Heavy rain here at the mo... but I don't mind as I am sitting here drinking a lovely cuppa:D

Talking about scrap metal etc, think I might start doing the au cans again etc, its suprising how those pennies come in handy.

nice pics I love it when you post pictures..

Poor bird. The chicken content of this thread gets everywhere ;)

Bands of rain keep passing through here, too, accompanied by the odd rumble. So DH can't get on with the jobs planned for today. Almost back to normal after the warm spell then :wall:

    what am I like:cool::D

Rummer, thank you, and I am honoured that you thought of me while munching your biskwits:T:D,

yep had my meltdown, and you lot caught me when I fell;):kisses3:, so now the only thing I can do, is dust myself own, and get back to 'duckin and divin' to get some pennies in...

I am sooooo in beliving, in the saying 'look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves'

I am sure some people say, but it isn't worth it, you are only going to get pennies for that, BUT as I have always said, its pennies I wouldn't have had.....

    Morning everyone :)

Thank you all so much for your lovely warm welcome - I'm already feeling right at home here as you're all so very friendly! It's good to see familiar faces (Better Days and Davesnave) from the Homebuying forum :T Also, that there's another Wilts resident (LIR) too :)

Will definitely post up some piccies of our project later on - it was un-mortgageable and pretty much uninhabitable when we bought it in 2011, but that didn't stop us moving straight in and we've been living amongst the rubble ever since, lol :rotfl:

It's a lovely sunny day here - I'm on my own today, hoping to have a bit of peace and quiet as we've had the electrician in doing first fix on our delightful 1980s extension most of the week - well, not totally alone as there's our two house cats (Persians Phoebe - where my user name comes from ;) - and Nellie) plus our old boy Archie (who is 13 and likes to take it easy these days) and things could never be peaceful whilst Rossetti the mad Labradoodle is about :rotfl:

DH has gone down to Hampshire to visit my parents - sadly they both have Dementia and are in a (blooming expensive!) nursing home - and his sister (to see her new chicks, so no doubt he'll come home and persuade me to get some, although I'm leaning more towards ducks at the mo)........any advice on the pros and cons of ducks vs chickens would be great please guys & girls!

I've been left at home as I have a mission - to bid on and hopefully win a piece of furniture for our dining room, which is probably crazy a) 'cos said piece of furniture is located at the other end of the country and b) 'cos at the mo our dining room resembles Miss Haversham's place, lol - but worse as it's in serious need of rebuilding :o So I'm going to sit back (not too many biskwits though as I'm on the Fast Diet and meant to be cutting back!), catch up on some reading and keep one eye on eBay......mustn't forget to bid or there'll be hell to pay!

Have a great day all x

PS Better Days - Hope you have better luck with this house!
