Hi phoebe1989seb:wave::wave::wave::wave:
Lovely to see you over on this thread - I haven't been posting here very long but have been made very welcome. I'm sure you will be too.
I've really enjoyed reading the renovation and livestock tales on this thread (and piccies of the piggies and goats etc). I only have a small garden here and not much bigger in our new house - so you are way ahead with a third of an acre and a house to renovate! Don't forget to post photos if you can.
We will be replacing the oil boiler if our house purchase goes through - out of interest what make and model did you go for?
Many thanks for identifying the plant - googled some images and you are right it is a Japanese anemone.:DIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

:wave: Hi Phoebe & welcome :beer:
Size, as they say, doesn't matter herenor whether one is stuck out in the back of beyond with acres or much nearer the smoke with something more manageable. Looking forward to seeing the photos.

What I admire about CTC (and itsme and davesnave) is the courage with which they make or have made BIG changes.
What I have been waiting to share in photos is a big change outside we have made. An improvement no doubt, but it still leaves me feeling a bit ...dithery. Apart from th tree vandalism its the biggest exterior change we have made.
Today the second started, fencing going in in the yard reconfigurations. I can see its the right thing to do for us, and goodness knows I've been trying to get fencers in long enough, but I still hate it happening. Weird, huh?0 -
The container was filled with scrap metal from around the place. The metal on its side was removed (several days labour) and put in the container. The concrete base is still there, and makes a good mounting block for now. We didn't really realise how big it was, two stables would fit there. Now our main yard looks huge and empty.0 -
wow!!!!
LIR... that is a lovely 'proper' farm yard!!!
hope you are weighing in all that metal:D:D
I feel flattered that you admire hubby and I , BUT HONESTLY...the only big change we have done, which isn't really a change, is that I am in debt, and juggling finances... to get my dream...AND to take on a lovely wreck of a place, which just needs loads of love and money... and time..
I have waited umpteen years to get the keys to a smallholding, so a few years doing it up, is going to be ( hopefully) worth it, maybe it might not increase in value, but when we are living there, will be worth millions to us:D:D
The council have put up a kissing gate at the top of our lane, and the gate is also in place too, so we can now fence up to it, and this means ( hopefully) no more cars and horse riders using our land:T:TWork to live= not live to work0 -
CTC, no, we coot the container for free, that was the best deal we could do:(. We filled it and have loads left. Old gates, corrugated iron, barbed wire etc.0

that is such a pitty:o, But then on saying that a few years ago, you would have had to pay to get rid of it...fingers crossed you can get another container for free to get rid of the rest.
