    THANK YOU..

    ITSME:A

Just balled my brains out when I went home from work... went up to the ranch with hubby, and heard the news that it had been an old friends funeral that day, he was only a year older than hubby:o:o:o sort of put things back into prospective... I might have had/having so much sh!te happening/bad luck or what ever, but the poor family of a great guy is going through hell...and so are thousands of people who lose loved ones every day..

Need to focus on ebay listings, as the stonemason started pointing yesterday, and the bit that he has done, when I seen it I cried ( with happiness for a change:D).. luckily the cheapest lime mortar ( basic colour) actually looks and suits the house/stone.

There is an old falling down pig stye on the edge of the garden, which I did want to re-do as a feature, but we need to get stone to replace some of the existing stone in the walls, but at least it is the same type of local stone being used.

someone told me about this scheme in wales this morning

    http://nestwales.org.uk/Whole-house-assessment

so anyone in wales/ lurkers etc. might be worth looking into.

Alfie.. you are right, I need to start surrounding myself with positive people again....

FK... that would be fab... I will make sure there is fresh milk etc in the caravan...

right off to re-read the posts I skimmed over:cool:

In fairness, it took a long time for him to come and see the property last year, and he can see there is potentially loads of work there for him, and I he knows its urgent now to try and make the outside of the property water tight.

Once he has finished, we need to get the scaffolding on one of the pine ends to get the chinmley down as the water is just pouring in.

on that pine end wall, we have agreed it might be worth just lime washing it, as then this will do the same job as the pointing, BUT will be a lot cheaper..

He really is working with us.. and coming up with logical suggestions for us stick to our zero budget:D:rotfl: BUT not making do, if that makes sense

Looks lovely CTC. The variation in texture, colour and size really adds character. :D Thanks for posting.

Thought you might like to see a couple of photo's. The first is of a couple of tubs that my husband made me for my birthday. One has been planted up with geraniums (plug plants) but the other is full of marigolds and tagetes which I grew from seed, and in retrospect over planted!

The second photo is of a vigorous plant we have in the back garden, about 5 feet high. Anyone know what it is - as you can see it has pretty pink blush flowers up on stems above the leaves.

Hi Better Days :) That looks like a Japanese Anemone to me......lovely tubs btw!

I've been lurking on this thread for a while and would like permission to join you lovely peeps if I may?

We moved out to Wiltshire from Hampshire (by way of Essex - but that was a huuuuge mistake, lol!) a couple of years back and whilst we don't have a small holding/farm etc, we are pretty rural and have a lovely 200+ year old stone village house on about 1/3 acre. It's just me and DH as DS (23) left home when he went off to uni and unfortunately never came back - he now resides in London with the GF, but he's a country boy at heart and dreams of his own small holding....and in the meantime it gives me an opportunity to get my London fix (I love Liberty's and all things Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts!) when we visit!

Our house was bought as an unfinished project - the previous owners had been here twenty years, but had only in the last few started renovations - otherwise, apart from a delightful 1980s extension, it was untouched for about fifty years - and had only got as far as re-thatching, putting in new oil-fired heating and some timber treatment.

We're old hands at restoring unloved houses and have experience of Tudor and Victorian buildings. This is going to be a five-ten year project as we do a lot of the work ourselves - DH now works from home selling mainly vintage music related items (plus a few antiques) on eBay, and we both have design backgrounds.

We love a project - last year's was building a vast kitchen extension, this year we've tackled the terrace and are now in the throes of re-vamping the ugly '80s part ;)

Anyhoo, hope I'm allowed to join in with this great and very friendly thread - pics will follow btw :D
