I have a small dilemma, while the weather remains warm the semi-cactus dahlia are still going strong.

TBH I'm getting a bit bored with them after 3 months and really want to clear the ground for wallflowers and spring bulbs.

Seems a shame to rip them out before they've been frosted but...

Alfie, you know, I think I'm not going to rush to paint that table and chairs after all, I still don't live the red, but you're right, I love the beat up. Especially while every thing else looks so raw.

We've got a set of those chairs in the back garden at the mo, along with a bench that the wooden slats need replacing. And a roughly oval table. Green. Belong to SiL and DD2, here to save storage costs - once they move to house with a garden at some indeterminate date in the future they'll have them back. I'd love to mend the bench before then, but with the lottie and all the other stuff going on I doubt we'll manage it.

I'm just glad alf is ok. A good chum on my other long standing thread had a stroke very recently. Its not a happy circumstance to no longer always have the funniest posts. :(

This weekend we have apple pecan cake with a toffee icing and a blackberry tart. Can you believe not one but TWO social things fell through this week? DH has had cake three times two day and tart twice. :rotfl: what's left he carts back to the office, but its pretty unenviable to try and cart lots of stuff back on a Monday morning. The tart won't freeze, so that has to go.
