She didn't gets to them before they scarpered so she couldn't tell themwe'd had some one spot spray there last week. I feel very bad, they could be very , very Ill, the idiots. Why do people do it? The road side had loads of blackberries or some where not privately owned and not roadside would be even better.
I doubt they'll come to harm. Most sprays are fairly quick to break down in the environment and there is the initial dilution too.
Most land seems to come with a few problems. We share a septic tank drainage field and you have foragers. We never see anyone in our fields, because they'd need to be the SAS to get in!0 -
LIR I can't believe people would just stroll onto your land and take fruit! Even if it is wild growing that is very cheeky! I would imagine that they would be fine as these chemicals often dissipate quickly.
Alfie I completely understand your frustration! I have had numerous emails a day (via Gumtree) with nothing to show for it.
IHS It is so lovely to see all your hard work paying off, I hope you have enjoyed your garden this year

I'm not too stressed about the drainage issue, which is just among things to be expected when you've knowingly bought a property from Bill the Bodger....:o
I'm much more angry about having paid an architect to draw a design, and that design being un-buildable, due to the drawings being wrong. I mean, if an architect can't measure & draw, what use are they?
We already had accurate measurements and a scaled plan, but this guy insisted on doing his own at a cost of £450 before he'd do anything else.
It's not like we're doing anything complicated, but we don't want a bungalow that'll resemble a Park Home, so the chimney will have to go.....at the very least.
.....And quite where that leaves us, with winter peeping over the hill, I don't know, because the wood burner and the Aga both use it. It could be a case of double the loft insulation, buy more leccy fires from Lidl and pray we don't get another 2009/10. :mad:0 -
Davesnave,
I think your Bill the bodger was related to our Sid the scrimper, as he scrimped on every job in the ranch lol..
Alfie I am sure I seen on FB last week, people could log into the bay, so maybe there was problems again yesterday??
look as though its going to be a nice day today, but it is freh this morning... Going to put big pig in the shed tonight.. as she is getting closer to having her piglins... the other sow... this week has gone back to normal, and don't look as though she is pregnant??? friends of ours came over yesterday, who used to have pigs, and they said they are proned to have phantom pregrancies , so will keep a VERY close eye on here...
ALEX... as been mentioned on the thread, many a time... you cant make a living from a smallholding these days. unless you fall lucky with something... I am aiming just to get a small income, maybe a part time wage for one of us.. which will mean if, or when our jobs change, at least one of us can be at the ranch full time, while one of us goes out to work...
have you got allotments near by?? so at least you can see if a smallholding/land would be manageable for you, from a very young age I have always liked plants/gardening etc.. and I have struggled garden wise with this place... mainly trying to juggle work etcWork to live= not live to work0 -
BIG GIRL is now producing milk, so we have been busy getting her into the shed etc... she had a bit of a hissy fit, and took the creep gate of its hindges !!! but she's calmed down now.... ( she wanted the full bale of straw that was in there, to add to the bale that had been opened and spread around in her bit) plus it could be the fact it was a sugar rush lol, as hubby was sharing his shortbread biscuits with her....
so I will have the camera ready for piglin pics... ( fingers crossed everything goes ok, and she turns out to be a good mum)Work to live= not live to work0 -
