Very poor year for my Day Lilies and Crocosmia too. Crocosmia has been in years and always flowered prolifically in the past.

Alfie I would like to pick your brains about doll houses as I know you are a bit of an expert :D Many years ago I got This kit and so far all I have really done is paint the outside with textured doll house paint.

Now I am ready to start on the inside :D I already have a bathroom suite and a few bits and pieces however I wondered if there was an online place to buy that was reasonable? The model shop near me is ludicrously expensive so a recommended online source would be marvellous. Not planning on adding electrics however everything else needs to be done from flooring to furniture!

Oh and the best type of paint for the roof would be helpful too! Thank you :D
 AT LAST SUMFING IM GOOOD AT :rotfl::rotfl: what i will do is have a look through my "boxes" and see what i can come up with. whenever i exterior decorate a house i "age" it... new look doesnt do it for me..;) roof tiles can be given a grey wash [slapped on with a chunky brush] using a tube of acrylic grey paint mixed with water. it will settle in the ridges etc and give a contour of color.then get a kitchen sponge, make a slightly watery mix with dull green acrylic and dab sponge in it then dab on roof ridges and lightly over the edges of bottom of tiles. practice on a piece of card/wood for effects. be light handed and DAB not PRESS.. :rotfl: if you look in diy store you may find a single sticky backed plasticky floor tile. [ask] look for reddish or grey slate ones. cut them into 1" squares and hey presto .... floor tiles. [kitchen and hall] also black tiles and white ones cut up for alternate in halls looks good or bathrooms. im wittering .:D if you PM me an email addy i can send you lots of non paying tips ;)

My day lilies did very badly too, but they're in a pot and very crowded, just didn't get time to split them this year. Maybe next year! And then they'll go out in the garden rather than in a pot. Is crocosmia what they used to call monbretia? Orange flowers (or red if you have Lucifer). Ours did really well this year, and need digging up and splitting next year, plus the offsets moving too or they'll take over the lawn.

Today was my 66th Birthday! Had a fairly quiet day, watched the birds fighting over the feeders, and a trip out to Tyddyn Sachau Nursery where OH bought me some pinks (dianthus) and a pot to put them in and compost for them to grow in for my birthday present. Driving back from Pwllheli the smell from them was just heavenly. Here they are having a bit of a soak so they'll be ready to plant tomorrow. Or the next day if it rains! ;)

Anyway, I would like to invite you all to partake of a slice of virtual birthday cake (rich fruitcake) and a glass of virtual fizz to celebrate. ;)

Rummer have a look at the dolls house emporium too as they're one of the most reasonable for standard items. Then look at miniatura and their exhibitors and their websites for inspiration, lots of drool worthy things. I'm a bit of a dollshouse nut too-3 houses and about 6 shops. 1/12, 1/24th and 1/48th scale. I love it and Alfie will tell you it can be quite addictive. My dining room table and chairs in my dollshouse cost more than my real one! Have fun
