The underfloor is not by necessity for the system. We've got the opportunity to do it sensibly in new bit so it would be mad not to. 'Old bit' is now three / four ground floor rooms, it feels like it might be worth the expense to go the bit further to do it there. We'll keep rads in bathrooms, for towels. All the upstairs floors apart from the one bathroom are going to have to come up too, and eventually heating replaced, so, as we do it seems worth going whole hog.
But, till then, these old rads do the job ok. No need to do it til we are ready on that basis.0 -
Good to hear your Mum's bored in a way Alf (means she's raring to go)- and also that your Sis will lend a hand. Good that she has nice neighbours to keep an eye out too - all ways a reasurance.
Poured down all day & the track is a soupy sludge. We couldn't do much today so we had a day away looking at tiles which was quite a revelation.0 -
Morning all,
what a lovely bright, crisp Autumn morning..
I feel like a plonker lol..
I sleep some nights in the 'living room' part of the caravan, so I can look out the window in the night, plus I feel I can hear every bit of noise, which in one way makes me feel at ease, as if anything was happening with the pigs, I would be able to hear it... Anyway, last night ( half a sleep) I could hear an owl hooting ( it wasn't it was a wood pigeon) and when I looked out the window, I could see a siloette sp? of an owl sitting on the fence, called hubby to come and see the owl, I looked again and it was one of the horses, looking over the fence, and all I could see was the outline of the head and ears...Hubby wasn't amused I got him out of bed to see a 'flipping horse'...def need to try and wear those varifocal glasses lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Omg the bacon, the bacon.
We've spent a full hour over breakfast going 'the bacon, the bacon'0 -
I think we are going to try and deal with the hops today.
We're keeping this years for home decoration.so I am hoping we can tease them out from behind the gutter ok. I'm guessing one gently winds into a garland? I cannot find any how to's just lost of 'buy here' on line!

Tiny high pleaded voice....
Yes, yes please.
We should meet up and collect them though, stead of making alf do all the running. I now see why she kept telling me she didn't mind if we left the bacon there. :rotfl:
Yes, sausages too. And I have a gammon and a joint in freezer but would buy another gammon ( I bake hams).
I cannot remember when I last had bacon so delicious tbh.0 -
CTC Your bacon and sausages sound amazing
Yesterday we had a mega gardening day :j My DD cut the hedge and did a very good job of it too. Then I got the front garden partially weeded, my goodness it was hard  We also got the remaining veggie beds weeded and the side grass cut.
This year has given me the confidence that once I am on top of it I can keep it going. The back has been kept tidy all summer and we have for the first time got the side prepped for next year so come spring all I have to do it uncover them and lightly dig them over before planting :j
I now have a few weeks left to get the bottom of the back garden and the greenhouse in order. Also hoping to get the fences, shed and coal bunkers painted. In fact I may recruit my DD into painting as she has been super keen to help with the painting indoor so that may be a good compromiseTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Bacon sounds delish.
Rummer you make me envious - the place is a disaster this year gardening wise. But all is not lost as we have loads of tatties & plenty of salad stuff.
Gorgeous day here now after more rain - OH back on the digger. I must list some stuff on the bay as it's the last day of the month.0 -

Don't be too envious, my sister is horrified at our garden :rotfl: I love it though and that is all that matters. Hopefully next year I will get the planting sorted in the back and the kids side of things organised.
Today we have been painting the fence and the huts. We have used Shades Wild Thyme which has worked well in our garden. It really sets off the white, lilac and purple tones that I have used for planting.
If we crack on with the painting then I am also going to do the coal bunker and the back of the house. The furniture will have to be redone too but I hate fiddly wee tasks so that can waitTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
