I cant get use to them
Took me a while too! Few days of moving head up and down to get the focus until it was second nature to gauge where to look at an object. IIRC I did get persuaded to buy the lenses which have the largest usable 'viewing area' [can't recall the proper name].0 -
LiR, Im worried about the beds close to the ?house wall. I see there is wood containing soil to keep away from wall, but I wouldn't trust that to last. In 5/10/whatever years that wood will rot. Then soil to wall and you get damp in house. I'd want more space between wood containment and house. Think I'd be looking for around 3 foot space - enough room to walk between, and prob just about enough room to work replacing the wood when it's needed.
I hope you don't mind me being critical in this way. It's meant to be helpful, not nit-picking.
Rest of garden you show looks lovely. Or will do when you get your time to plant it up, can't wait to see that! :j 0 -
I forgot to mention that our builder was finishing the 'man-cave,' today, adding the ceiling and replacing the lights and power points.
He's also replacing the sink and worktop with freebie items from the barn... (we had 3 'rescued' sinks to choose from!:o)
It can be a temporary kitchen while the proper one has its roof pulled off next month.
September is usually nice, weather wise., isn't it???:D_pale_:think::exclamati:huh:0 -

That's ok, not feeling criticised.
The wood is being lined with damp proof course plastic. It will still rot of course, but, should give us enough time to replace as well, hopefully, as prolonging life of the wood.0 -

I wouldn't worry about the wood, but your house, being old and natural, is meant to breathe, so I wouldn't put anything right against the walls if it belonged to me. I would want a bit of an air gap, so as not to impede evaporation through the bricks.

Ahh, ok, got it.
Yes, the air gap is wee. ( but looking back not quite as wee as looks in pictures, big enough to get a stiff brush down and clean out a couple of times a year) But there is a air pump disgorging at it, so effectively is electrically vented.
