Ohh and how could I forget....
Had an email from my brother yesterday. He and his family had such a good time staying with us for 12 days earlier this month they want to come again in October:eek::eek::eek:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I'm still on bifocals.
Tried varifocals, but the field of view was so narrow, I found myself moving my head around like a chicken!
Just had some visitors from the old place, which was nice. :)They think we're nuts.
Also, the man came to pick up his dumper. He wouldn't believe we'd had so much trouble with it, so I left him to start it.....
A few minutes later, we'd worked out an equitable settlement.:rotfl:

been out today, following up on places I called to, to get potential customers... there are some twonks out there. who are totally up their own backside... these were the obvious places that would first come to mind..
soooo today on the off chance I called to somewhere totally local, and.. they are genuinely going to see how they can incorporate it into one side of their business... so left a sample for them to 'play around with'
sorry if I sound a bit cagey on this, but until I can get it off the ground.. I don't want it publically what it is..
While being on my travels... I found out how much greengrocers are charging for cobnuts!! £4 a lb ( if I could I would put the blue scary face here)
so one to think of for potential income for next year... even if its a £1 or two...
right better get some work done..Work to live= not live to work0 -

They would be the cultivated varieties; a bit larger and, it seems, more fussy.
So, while the local trees are stacked with hazelnuts, my posh ones in the garden are very sparse. They haven't been 'good' again since the year we came here.
Other people's mileage may vary, of course.0 -
thanks for putting the scary faces in for me Dave lol..
Didn't think of that re- cultivated ones, But on saying that the majority of the nuts do seem larger this year...
noticed the cold last night in the old caravan... so just snuggled up earlier with the blanket...
last night the 2 big pigs kept me awake.. bashing about in the ark... its suprising how active they are in the nights..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Well, dog dog has been having lunch this week, three meals a day, to start building her up a bit for autumn winter season.
She's really happy back on her 'normal' raw diet and much less fussy, never misses a meal, but she has got very lean this summer. While we had so many builders in they were on premade food for a couple of years and the improvement on skin and vigour etc is noticeable, and the weight of the other too, both prone to a bit of plump ness, is perfect. Dog dog, though, is not a good doer!
I was talking to DH at out how to increase feeds without having extra half blocks of meat around till next meals ( which ATM I'm not maNaging). His best suggestion was to get another dog, lol.

Thank you for making me giggle I have spoken.
Today I remained firm with gardener and said, if I got it wrong it wouldn't be the first or last time, but it would be an experience none the less.
I send pics to fir who agreed before hand of course, he thinks the cats in particular will love the garden. I enjoy the idea of herbs high enough for the boy not to piddle on!0 -

Did you tell the woolies you knew another one?. Were they better trimmed? Lol.
Yes please to jars!!
I was just thinking I needed to think about some rings for my jars pretty seriously.
I am not a chutney maker, but I intend to remedy that, when I have a bit more energy, but I do make jams, jellies and preserves. I like to make odd flavours.:). Who'd a guessed that, huh?
This week end I'm going to get one of those possibly damsons and have a look at it. When we had damsons before I was not keen on them, but in hope I have acquired the taste. Importantly, damson jam was the boss's late mother's favourite, so I thought I might make some straight up, no frills damson jam if they are damsons, not a lot, just a couple of jars, for him and the other sibling in Europe , not think I could get it into the States? Any way. Thought would be a nice thing to do.
I'd like damson cheese. I love fruit cheeses, and glowing bottles of jellies.
Other wise I'm hoping to get a bit more productive with bottling and stuff again from now on.
I had some sterilisation failures last year, and didn't make so very much. A lovely jelly recipe a Mse er gave me which is a favourite now. Some bramble and eau de vie jelly. I'm not sure why. I have been making jams etc since school, I wonder if it has something to do with the house or if in tired ness/ forgetful ness I'm messing up.
I could do with a wooden stool the right height for sitting by the cooker to stir for long jobs, so I can keep going when I tire really.0
