Probably about a day or so, but I'm guessing.
It is frustrating, but there were so many factors to consider when we chose the pitch, including matching the existing rows on the house roof and making sure it would meet the house at the right point to run right through, and over the 'man-cave' room on one side, finishing in the correct place. Had it been the garage only, it would have been easier.
And it almost worked out. Indeed, we could put the ridge on and never have a problem with it, but then again, we might, so I'd rather not.
Hey, your kitchen looks great!:T You've changed the windows too, of course.
Marmalade looks as if who's really in charge at your place is not a matter of debate! :rotfl:
Not worth taking the risk with a roof. The potential for damage should there be problems easily outweighs the hassle of sorting it out now. Not much consolation now though:(:(
Yes, liked the arched window frames but they were too far gone to rescue, and replacing them (and the draughty front door) has made a big difference to how comfortable the house is.
You know I don't think I've ever had a cat who didn't think s/he was master of their little universe. We once rehomed an elderly tortie called Tess. She objected to us reading the newspaper and if we didn't pay her attention and put down the paper would go and grumble to herself in the hallway, swishing her tail in frustration. When we sold the house she was in the EA photo marching across the front lawn checking out who had the termerity to stand in front of her house with a camera. :rotfl:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I'm coming to some conclusions regarding the expensive 'Floridity' F1 tomatoes I've grown and their free lookalike F2 cousins, grown from last year's seeds.
My fakes look similar and produce OK, but seems like the real thing is somewhat better.:( Very few of these toms ever make it out of the polytunnel, so after munching for a few weeks, I'm almost sure that the real thing has the edge in taste.
While I hate to admit that, one has to attempt objectivity. If they taste better, then the genuine plants, at 32p a seed, are worth it.
Maybe I should organise a blind taste test, just to make sure?:o:D
Anyway, growing tomatoes from cuttings is easy. One early plant can go a long way! :rotfl:0 -
what a bloody night!!! all calm now, but still grey skies ..
do trees have a natural time limit to be in leaf? as the trees seem to be dropping their leaves and showing signs of going into Autumn.. it looks as though their season has shifted a month or so, by coming into leaf early, now they are going into autumn leaf drop early...
or is natures way of saying we are going to have a hard winter?? lol..
RAS... we caught a squirrel in a live trap we put down to catch rats with ( we have only ever caught this one squirrel, not even a rat lol) and we let it go, we couldn't shoot it lolWork to live= not live to work0 -
Yes, I think trees do & if they are out early they drop their leaves early.
A squirrel is really a tree rat - they can kill cats you know!
Silver light here again. OH having another bad reaction to the latest medication he's just started taking. It's all a bit useless re the doctors at the moment.0 -

sorry to hear about OH and the reaction... hope they can find the right meds for him..
I know squirrels are just tree rats, but they do look cute.... I didn't realise they can kill cats!!! even though our cats are down the house, not up the ranch, there are a few cats around us, that use our land as their hunting ground...
we also seem to have loads of magpies this year too.... noisey things stomping around on the roof of the caravan lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

I think some trees have dropped leaves due to the stress of dry ground. This is true for our willows anyway, which aren't in a very 'willowy' place. The recent rains have come just in time to save some young trees.:)
Alfie, I had a sort of hedgetrimming freebie today too, when my neighbour had his field hedges done. Not sure it was as welcome or skilled as yours though!
Normally, Mr Dog's son does neighbour's patch, but as we gave him the order of the boot for sending 'Mad John' last year, there isn't enough work for two, so he's just sent John.
John is....er....how shall we say it?..... Keen. Yeah, keen!
I always know when it's him, because he makes the most awful din with the flail. Indeed, he seems to have a personal vendetta with the trees. Last year, we had to run down the road after him with the barrows, picking up the huge branches he left in his wake before they caused an accident.....:wall:
Anyway, John doesn't know that we are responsible for the stream hedge on the neighbour's side, so he attacked it with the gusto he applies everywhere. I suppose some of the trees will be a bit mangled, but if I'm honest, he's probably done us a favour and we won't see much of whatever he's done! :rotfl:0 -
crikey DAVE.... my lot seem insipid compared to your hedging trauma's :rotfl: mine [3 of em] turned up with brooms, rakes, hedgers etc and twas done with military precision according to my painters !:D0
