Hope everything will be ok near you Alfie, and nipper will be safe..
that's the problem with this dry weather, even if the sun catches a piece of glass in the wrong way, it can cause a fire...Work to live= not live to work0 -

we have a 3 acre + grass/corn fire just up the road [aprox 2 miles] been going since about 2pm. ive just had call from fire station to say son still there so past his shift finish. 30 fireman there . trouble is its replenishing water supplies !:( hope no houses are affected
Pete had just ridged-up the hay, when the idiots next door lit their incinerator.:mad: It was actually the pyromaniac granny who did it. As it was only cardboard, I bit my tongue for 5 minutes, but talk about thick!
These are the people who 'home educate' their kids. :rotfl:
Anyway, the good news is that we broke our previous record with 34 bales, all of it good stuff.:D Previous was 32, but they were not great quality.
No rain before Friday here, though Pete wasn't so sure about that. As he was right about the hay harvest, perhaps I ought to listen to him.:o0 -
ooooer dave.... any way you can check the bonfire is OUT ? its so tinder dry everywhere it just adds to the speed of spread.....0

Alfie - hope the fire is quickly doused. There was a bad one over the Loch where I used to live, the other week & it took out a few acres but no houses. I was on the news as it's so remote to get the fire brigade to.
I've made 29 pots of blackcurrant & apple jam with cassis in. tHE CARAVAN IS IN A RIGHT STICKY OLE MESS - sorry for shouting - licking my fingers at the time.0 -

It was cardboard in an incinerator, so I guessed it wouldn't last long and there's no sign of it going now.
But to light something like that with dry hay just 20' away, all ridged-up and ready for the baler, was sheer stupidity.
I have a stack of 'orrible wood from DD1's place which needs to be burnt, but there's no way I'll be setting fire to anything until we've had some appreciable rain.0 -
