Yellow warning of rain with blustery winds on Sat night/Sunday across north of Britain with a low pressure area going over.:(

we got it bad from tomorrow/Saturday.. yellow warning for us and the south west, so I should imagine there will be some flooding in places...

been raining here today in various degrees from mizzle to down pours....

BD - sorry you're having plumbing problems.
Funny you should mention ME - apparently there were 3 or 4 people here who got a number of years ago at the same time. There was a wonder if it was a virus.

Hope that the dog perks up. That tea looks really nice.

Maggie - great stuff with the boat & the help. Sounds like you've been busy in the garden. Mine is out of control totally.

Dave we had a couple of screaming chasy chasy jets go over yesterday - rattled the windas. I just about ducked. I wonder if they're planning to invade somewhere....again.

Sheep dip (or other pesticides) can also be a cause - the Duchess of Mar became ill after sheep dip exposure.
  • Dave, what a treat to see the Vulcan, I've never seen one in displays or anything, not that I remember anyway... When I was in the mob I worked at the air tattoo and got to see all the practice flying of the displays all week, must have been a Vulcan there for that?! There was a lot of alcohol going on :o

I love seeing the jets here but must admit I find it so comforting when the Hercs fly low over us, there was one last night in fact. I suppose it reminds me of the best years of my life; living and working on or near their base for over a decade the sight and sound was ingrained. Sadly they aren't there any more, I probably see more of them here than they do in Wiltshire now!

I too am not a fan of the chemicals, for all sorts of reasons including all the medical ones, but most recently the cynic in me thinks the manufacturers want farming to become dependant on them so they can monopolise, hold the world to ransom. Cor, talk about conspiracy theories, I've been spending too long on the internet!

Thankfully it's a bit cooler and more comfortable but there wasn't a lot of rain today in the end, I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to the next couple of days although I know the ground/plants need it and my water butts could do with replenishing.

I have plenty of non-outdoor stuff to do though, abattoir run and meat deliveries tomorrow, and I'm helping with a battery hen rehoming on Saturday, and maybe a little shopping trip. It's meant to be better Sunday so I'm going to a local VW show if it's not raining, take my van for a spin and have the day off :D

I've said it before, so I won't labour the point, but without chemicals, we'd have struggled to reach where we are. Once we reached this stage, only a small quantity's been needed to maintain and we've never blanket sprayed, so no risk to others. :A

The farmhouse down the lane gets spray drift in their garden from the big field next door, but here we're bordered by Mr Organic and Horse Woman, so no problems. Across the road, the farmer is known to be rather tight, so lots of muck used there and not much else! :rotfl:The rest of that land is horse pasture.

I don't mind the military planes at all, but one of my gripes about West Wales, and Ceredigion in particular, was the constant high level roar from the transatlantic jets, outbound and climbing. :( That was at a time when I lived under the flight path to Bristol airport and had all the European tourists going over. Again, they didn't bother me. :)

    Well done Sunday! :T

Our two have been a real delight. Glad we had them in summer though. Perhaps we'll be able to put the curtains back in a month or two! :rotfl:
