Ooooooh I was thinking of putting in an elderberry hedge in the bit of the side garden that is not really used for anything. Just wondered if they were easy to grow from cuttings or if I would have to buy new plants?

The golden and black leaved varieties are more garden worthy, and they are all pretty easy.

My golden one came from Lidl's car park. As the bush really needed pruning at the time, no one lost out. Stuck it in a jar of water in a north-facing window for a few weeks....:)

    I've been Money Tipped!
My big orange hardy fuscia thing needs a 'shovel prune'. It has a sort of mildew problem. Had it last year too, so not just this years wet issues. Its going to leave a bit of a whole in the border sadly.

How do you take a cutting is it at a joint?

Yes, just a wee bit below it. There are err...'things'....inside the joint that make it easier for roots to form there. :)

Not very technical I'm afraid! :o

    been cooler here too,

boglet is now out and about and sort of running round... soooo pleased... going to phone vet tomorrow to give update, and to see if there is any possibilities of it going backwards after the anti-b's have finished... it has lost a lot of weight, so hopefully with its appitite back it will soon start gaining weight.

Settling down now up the ranch to watch the football.

    Excellent news about Boglet. :T

It's horrible, seeing an animal go downhill and having no answers, so doubly joyful when they make a recovery and rally against the odds. :)
