They call me ( saying they are from windows) I let them go on for ages and make tits of them selves . We have no pc's in this house at all( mac household, no windows)

Fwiw there is a special fraud line to report it too.
If you ask them for their name ( the other thing I dislike is the presumed rascism that all these people with very Asian accents have oddly Anglo/welsh/Irish names, ) and also ask for a phone number ...like the idiot who would want to call back on the number they give you to check they really are from windows.
I've given these details to the line that deals with these things a few times in the hope it helps them build a pattern of behaviour. They sent me a letter last time to say it had helped.0 -
Funny, I thought I had one of those con men this morning too, because when I picked up the phone, I heard a lot of unintelligible gibberish, and the only word I got was "window."
Luckily, when I didn't respond appropriately, he added, "Well, is you up there, or down yer?" and I knew then it was not a foreign gentleman, but the Shed Man. He was in his van, trying to deliver the errant window down at the yard!:rotfl:
Our builder just erected a tarpaulin canopy this morning and carried on laying blocks in the rain. Don't see that level of commitment very often.
Meanwhile, I hear our experience with local builders isn't anything to take personally. The council put a small job out to tender with 15 local firms a few months ago and none of them even replied!
Recession? What recession?0 -
Thought you might like to see a photo of our patio at the caravan. It's a bit messy as we were trying to cook lunch on the barbie, weed, and plant all at the same time - hence the compost bag and pile of bracken etc on the slabs. But at least it gives you an idea of how it looks. I have plenty more photos if it wouldn't bore you too much!
:rotfl: (this was yesterday lunchtime before the rain arrived around 5)

Just had one heavy shower so far today, was fairly clear and even some sun in the morning. The rain came on just as OH set off into Pwllheli to get carpet scraps to put in the boat. But only the odd drip again now, been funny weather here today - guy in the bottom caravan reckons we were in the "eye" of the low pressure area this morning - we were certainly surrounded by interesting looking clouds while in sun!0 -
Alfie def a con..... I get those phone calls all the time at work... I like LIR leave them rabbit on... and then I get them there is nothing wrong with computer, as I haven't got one ( even though I have) and they put the phone down rather sharpish..lol..
we still don't know if we are going tomorrow, depends on how much work we get done today so is Monday ok???
We have decided to shut the business on Fridays... stop a few things.. as they wernt profitable.... I think they call it streamlining the business...
even though we had some rain yesterday, nothing today, but it is very close.. and sticky... def need a storm.. to clear the air...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Sigh. I have had two days of being let down by companies and poor customer service.
No time in the garden today as I had to constantly chase things up and do housework
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Alfie, definitely a con, I work in IT, and I get them too. If you want to have some fun with them, ask them which computer has the problem (we have more than one), and sit back and listen to them flounder. 😀Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
Rummer, thanks for the door compliment. Its one of four fours in that room! The big French doors opposite it are my favourite, but those ones sit PERFECTLY in the wall from outside. They replaced a window and I was worried about that but it looks good, a bit coach housey. We have a single stable door to match leading in to the utility and another in the lobby on the other side.
Its incredible how much effort went into getting the proportions just right. And choosing the furniture was painful. Like the rest of the house its left a jumble of smart and humble, but that's how the original house is, and matchy matchy would be worse IMO.0 -
i love that " jumble of smart and humble" :rotfl:i went to the tip today to have a look at what they were selling and chap in charge said hed never known such a drop in items being brought in.. hardly any furniture or garden stuff. i said maybe footy and tennis ment nobody clearing out but he said its been flat for months
im maybe off on an adventure to the land of sheep again monday.:j:j business this time
well the sun has shone and still shining all day today .. ive got to water the bluddy garden now
so that pic of a grey cloud with big droplets on the weather map for today was what vet removes when gelding an 'oss. :rotfl: 0 -
Oops, I've been nurturing a stand of fireweed
In all the excitement of the new garden, it must have got transplanted with the perennial and I've only just noticed that the leaves at the top and bottom of the 'plant' didn't match...then I noticed the pink flower buds. :rotfl:0
