  • Yay! Good on you for trying something new! I am getting back into my garden in a big way this summer after years of not bothering :o

Only thing I will say, you might just be too late for sowing the squashes this year and also might be better saving the sweet peas til autumn too, or next spring...I was late sowing and I did mine about a month ago, and I'm not sure they'll mature in time to produce anything - d'oh!

Can you get some climbing beans like borlottis? They can have a late sowing, even in July and they will still give you a crop, plus saving seed is really easy!

Just been round my neighbours for a natter, they too have a kitten, an adorable little ginger and white chap called George!

For a tom, that would be purrfect, but she has sophisticated pretentions. Definitely going to be a lap-cat too, which is new for us, as torties are normally a bit shy of that. They'll sit alongside you, if they feel like it. ;)

Just heard the Outlaws are descending next week. They will probably not like sharing the living room with a chicken run, but it's the only way to keep the kittens safe/contained during the days when the conservatory's too hot.

M&M, agree with FK that you are too late for squash, but the seeds keep for years anyway if stored cool. Sweet peas could go in autumn or next spring. Lettuce in containers is always worthwhile. Cut & come again is easiest, even buy some 'living salad' in Lidl for 89p and transplant! :D

Good morning my green fingered friends :D

    LIR I have door envy!

Dave They are simply gorgeous girls :D

I need a garden moan….. My seeds this year have been a flop :( Out of all the things I planted only the radishes (which I personally dislike) and the spring onions have grown. The tubs of cut and come lettuce that I planted have not even produced enough for a sandwich!

It has been very dispiriting and if I hadn't had success from the plants I bought and have been gifted I think I would be completely grumped and looking at artificial grass and aggregates! Plus the slugs have been ruthless this year and have chewed their way through loads of plants  Oh and the caterpillars that have tried to demolish the fig.

    Right moan over!

I am going to be child free for a few hours today and I will be spending some of that time in the garden :D

can i ask a question please [im thinking RAS??] ive just had a weird call from a very pushy man on the phone telling me i have mega virus's etc on my laptop [which i do on my old laptop??] repeating my address etc to me..... i asked how he knew my address and he said that my LT was registered to that.[[but it was for old name of this house, old lady had changed it but its now the original name again] he asked me to turn on my laptop and he would tell me how to "cure" it...... being the pessimist i declined and he put phone down at speed. do you think this could be legit or a con ??

    Alfie, I'm sure it's a scam.

This is from someone in US, but sounds similar.

And while we're talking scams, beware of anyone trying to get you to hand over your bank cards to a "courier" to be exchanged fro new ones as the ones you have have been hacked and used fraudulently. (this is quite a complicated one, but nasty)

Certainly not a specialist on this but a con, alfie.

Which reminds me I have to go and report back on a con artist we just spotted here.
