Alfie.... FRIDAY isn't going on Friday....along with the other 7 lol.. decided to keep them another month... so they will be on the bigger side of the weaners..

home today to try and do a bit of cleaning...and some batch cooking BUT the weather is soooo nice, I really should be pottering around outside...

As a trial I am going to see how much I can make by buying stuff at the farm auction, and then baying it etc... to see if this could at least cover basic out goings if we had no jobs and only lived up the ranch... etc.. I have 2 bay accounts, so one will be used for that...

right finish off this cuppa, and get on with some more work..lol

No news Alfie, it hasn't arrived.

I'm ticking away getting little stuff done today. Considering painting landing and all pure brilliant white just so its painted SOMETHING fresher and clean, really want to lay those carpets you gave us now :).

Wishing I had your bargaining skills, seen some things I want and they are sticking at the price.....thinking, thinking.....

Apart from last Sunday we have had two weeks of rain and next week look dire as well. I have hundreds of plants to get out so am going to take risk of putting as many as possible out in the sun tomorrow then try and fix tin hats to cope with Saturday's predicted weather events.

    Oh well... See you.

Yep, today was mostly fine here, but as soon as I started fence painting it started spitting. So I stopped, so the rain stopped too.

I got the back lawn cut though. Should have done front too, just......didn't.

Inside got a few jobs off the weekend list that have been annoying me for ages.

Rained here all day & we ran off to collect a table I bought on Gumtree- a little occasional table that is carved all over. I really like it.
Naughty as I should of been doing a hundred other things but...well sometimes it just has to be avoided....boring stuff that is.

All the talk of painting is very topical here. I was determined not to simply paint everything white this time (I'd done it in my last place) as it's a cold colour, but equally was worried about what would work in the house as we have not lived there. The Farrow and Ball site was really useful helping to guide us (especially the link posted by LIR above). I was pretty confident that we could paint the extension any colour as it is South facing and flooded with light and double height.

We are lucky to have a local farmer who has a sideline buying in end of line quality paints so we went there and the fact that they were selling paint that retails at £25-£30 for £7.50 meant that we bought the paint and then decided which rooms we were going to use it in. We bought £1000 worth of paint for under £300. Mainly "Perfect Oyster" (Dulux) a light grey/beige, a pale sky blue (lots), a fjord blue (two tins), A dark terracotta, almost burgundy, a dark olive green and a heavy cream. These were all "natural" colours, almost neutral being colours you find in nature. I have to say, I made my decision with great trepidation, as I don't feel I have too much natural ability as an interior decorator!

Anyway, we are happy so far. The extension is painted in the very pale blue and the grey, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98410421/2014-06-05%2018.53.44.jpg

and the living room in the grey and the burgundy.

The dark colour on that north facing wall also has the effect of making this wall look closer and more in propoertion, a positive effect as it is a room that is long with a long, low window which only accentuates the narrow effect.

I like them and I suppose that's what matters, although OH wasn't convinced until he'd painted the whole burgundy wall. Was I brave?

I love the country. Our friend is the local bee warden and he arrived on our doorstep this morning asking, "Do you want to come and collect a swarm?"

So we now have this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98410421/2014-06-05%2018.14.30.jpg

Deranged broody hens are still us! Do your's look anything like this, Dave? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98410421/2014-06-05%2014.41.09.jpg

I can take or leave Aldi's plants, but today mine got in really good quality grasses, £1.99 each. Planted in 3s and 5, they add to the border whatever the season.
