ALL DAHLIA TUBOUR PACKS [UP TO 5 PER PACK] £1 IN LOCAL GARDEN CENTRE :j
GUESS WHO GOT LOADS:D:D
All right, well done, but there's no need to shout!
I know someone who got some cheaper than that, but admittedly, they weren't very big.I think they may recently have been planted too!
We bought DD1 a moving-in present today......a big roll of heavy duty weed control fabric for her new, large garden. :cool:0 -
Did someone mention dahlias :rotfl::dance::rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Alex - thanks for that. I'll have to have a good research into this. Not at the oven stage just starting to think on these things.....as you do.
I hope the new job works out fine. I don't know if I could work full time for someone else. I've become spoilt like that. It takes me to do my sporadic house keeping jobs. The money is handy but I would rather not have to do the work! Which is a bit bad !!! attitude. Hope the hens become a reality. Still thinking of getting some replacements, but it would be a bit pontless with all the murdering that's happened so far.
Well off to the big city - I am turning into a reet city chick going round all these 'Sheds' B&Q etc. They even have a 'design house with IKEA stand in it in the industrial section. I think I'll get my sink there as it's so much cheaper & looks better designed & has a 10 year warranty. Looked at somemarble stuff in one place - my goodness how the other half live - floors, walls, vanity units - like something out of a Manhattan apartment.
I don't think it's very ethical - I think it's all quarried by kids in awful conditions..............................0 -
Reckon I'm going to be accused of 'vandalism' in my garden. One of the (very) few plants in the garden when I bought the house is a rhododendron which is
+ Scarlet, a colour I really dislike in the garden
+ Taking up a lot of space in one of the few sunny parts of the front garden
+ Has a self-sown sycamore tangled up in the roots
+ does nothing for 48 weeks of the year
Plus these plants are 'common as muck' around my way, the EU want to reclassify as a weed.
Now the flowers are over, I'm thinking remove it and reclaim the valuable space for some much more interesting plant combinations.0 -
LIR.... now im not usually spooked BUT
you have almost same kitchen style/shape as "L"
same style of barfroom sink etc...
what has she ordered....AN OLIVE TREE
what cant she find?... a big enough POT !!!!
been a dull day heremisty rain coming in now.
ive had a "hunt the keys" day..:o i couldnt unlock the front door this morning so had to exit through patio and chance not locking it..
spent last two hours hunting [new car keys plus front door ] .... found em ! in the downstairs loo ??
this house has 2 bathrooms and a downstairs loo... not used to it yet..:D
released an injured collared dove today, all better ...feels good when "it works"
ooooooo rains a coming0 -
Off to the chicken shed man with a plan for a semi- bespoke extension to our smaller shed. This will contain just the nest boxes and save us buying another.
Some of the birds currently have a respiratory infection which Tylan isn't shifting. These always seem to strike at this time of year.:(
Of all the legbar eggs our friend bought for hatching, only one successfully made it.....Yes, it's a cockerel! :rotfl:0 -

The pinkish/mauvey one is classed as an invasive species & landowners have a duty to remove it. It is also poisonous to sheep, cattle etc. It can be a devil to get shut of. There are courses run on how to twist it to get it out. Forests here are invested with it.
I must admit I do like the scarlet one, but those shocking pink ones are a touch loud even for me.
Decided against a combi micro wave as saw some gas cookers that I like - dear in cost but I would use it every day & the price of each seperate thing (good hob etc) doesn't really make too much diffference in price.....I suppose. I am rather out of touch with prices - It's all a revelation...................gee how do folks manage on ordinary wages?
Beautiful out, but midgies are rampant, but have to go swill a house out - spent the money, so better crack on!0 -
Rather belated, but thanks all for the tips on what to plant in the courtyard area - especially IHS for the detailed plant list - I had considered acers as it is so sheltered and I love the foliage, but hadn't thought of the morning sun scorching the leaves:(. So now got lots of ideas of what to plant up and already have hellebores one of the few plants present when we moved in.:beer:
Alexelisey lovely to have you back, hope the new job continues to go well. Any thoughts on what kind of chickens you will go for?
CTC - your bare frontage looks great
I have been unable to resist the special offers on plug plants recently but you can never have too much lavender. Posted a deal on the grabbit board for lavender and bedding plants if any of you have gaps to fill.
Bathroom still not quite finished - plumber 'off sick' again. Poor chap. He was at the hospital again today for more 'tests'. Dave - those black tiles were a horror - I had a nightmare that I got up in the morning and the bloomin things were back up again. Must be losing the plot
choille I am looking at cookers too - ours will have to be electric and the prices are  esp when you add in a cooker hood.
Dave - hope the ACV has done the trick - at least it's relatively cheap. I bought 5 litres of the stuff for the chickens and it didn't break the bank. Hope your poorly chucks pick up soon......why do you think they get the respiratory infections this time of year?
Mr BD and the plumber (he can turn his hand to just about anything and has a stihl (?) chain saw) cut down the leylandi hedge on Tuesday and it has made a massive difference to the light levels in the garden. Will post some pics tomorrow. Plus we now have field views - once you look over the neighbours gardenAnd we have a pile of logs but I seem to recall leylandi takes a long while to season.
My list of things to do keeps growing but have made some inroads today. Hoping to buy some taps from ebay and also a sink for the kitchen to save a bit when we have the kitchen done. Trouble is I keep getting outbid...dang :rotfl::rotfl:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
