BD - lovely bathroom trasformation. I do like the wood stain you have on your back area. Hows about some herbs - that would be handy for the kitchen - mint, chives,

Any ideas about what to do with this small 'courtyard' area which the kitchen looks out onto

East facing would risk buds getting damaged by rising sun after frost so ruling out acers, magnolia etc.

Plants I've used in shady parts of gardens -

    Climbing hydrangea
    Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile'
    Buddleja davidii 'White Profusion'
    Hypericum 'Hidcote'
    Digitalis purpurea f. albiflora
    Aucuba japonica 'Rozannie'
    Bergenia 'Bressingham White'
    Anemone × hybrida 'Honorine Jobert'
    Pulmonaria 'Sissinghurst White'
    Sarcococca confusa
    Acorus gramineus
    Geranium phaeum 'Album'
    Ajuga reptans 'Atropurpurea'
    Hosta 'Big Daddy'
(PS I hate the pink slabs)

A contemporary garden could be created by covering the east and north walls with Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris then plant 6 or 8 good size box-balls (Buxus sempervirens) kept clipped.

Yes the ACG for the chooks is what I'm taking, Better Days; approximately the dose for a horse today, but I will cut back!:rotfl:

Seems to be working :D, but this time I recognised the signs early, which probably helped.

I was scrolling slowly down the previous page, and for a horrible moment I thought the 'before' bathroom was the 'after' one. :o What a great job you've done!

I think your plans for the courtyard sound fine. Ferns are very easy in the right place and you could fit a few other shade tolerant things between them for early season, like hellebores & astrantias, if you create a bed.

    :rotfl::rotfl:Did the stair lift go?

It looked so pristine, I was almost tempted myself. :D

If money were no object, I'd really like a ski lift to run from the barn to the back door and a zip wire for going the other way...

We cut down an old apple tree last year, that had loads of canker all over its branches, anyway the stump is now throwing out new growth... how can I take cuttings and would they be viable?? I presume I take cuttings in the winter??

House is looking very smart CTC.

I think cuttings would go but I think most apples are grafted root stock? I think RAS would be your 'man' on that one.

The midgies are black clouds outside - such a waste as it's still light.
