Or an old cast iron 'copper' with its bottom cut off with an angle grinder?

They have an outward-facing lip at the top. :D

Sorry to hear the dreaded kidney stones are back Dave. Lets hope the cider vinegar see them off. Is it similar to the ACV I give to the chickens?

Mr BD has been offered a part he couldn't refuse today from one of the local theatre groups - as a fairy - now Mr BD is not tall, or slim or graceful, so lets hope its a comedy:rotfl:

By now you may be guessing I've found the batteries to my camera
Raised bed which I planted up yesterday with courgettes, toms and marigolds and peas

may have this wrong but i think olives dont need excessive space at top. they tend to have short solid roots not far reaching [outwards anyway] so enough to stabalise im guessing ...
what about height of pot ? will it be in a wind tunnel area ? stability?
what im thinking is ,if its gonna be bottomless then a pot half sunk in ground sounds more stable. so need TOTAL height ie 2ft up, 2ft down...:D:D

what about a big old iron round emmersion heater tank chopped top and bottom ?
now i may know of the whereabouts of one of those....;) :D

Yes, fibrous roots need to reach down for water, that's all.

Sinking is an ace idea I had not thought of at all.

I think a cast iron thing sounds great. :). How tall is it?

Would be GORGEOUS, but wouldn't it cost a fortune?

Bd, I love your bathroom transform! We are thinking of shiny tiles ( though clear glass ones) for our 'en suite' too. DH likes a bit of shine. ;). Funny these men, huh?

I like quite plain things, but, uh, have my eye on quote a dramatic and unusally modern for me wall mural ( or the replication there of) in the bathroom to make the shiny tiles work.

All this against white. As I did the last bathroom in white my family are a bit confused. I never, ever use plain white, only off white, and now I am talking about using it twice in one house!

Any ideas about what to do with this small 'courtyard' area which the kitchen looks out onto. We are going to move the wood store. The area faces East and the kitchen faces south, but there is a lot of shade from the garage (I don't intend to retain the toilet and broken lawnmower as decorative items although perhaps the former could be used as a planter :o). Would really love some thoughts on what plants would be happy there, in pots perhaps or if we make a bed where the woodstore is. Ferns perhaps, clematis..... (PS I hate the pink slabs)
