Back from our trip to Barnstaple, where DW valiantly emptied the van of carp while I was being X-rayed. It's easier if she goes into the recycling centre, as they give ladies an easier time and don't seem to suspect them of being traders. ;)

Mrs Efficiency then went on to visit two kitchen companies while I was still sitting about in a backless gown feeling a right twit. :o:o:o

Nice radiographer, anyway. She said, "I'm just going to prod you a bit." I didn't mind. :D

Anyway, on to Sainsburys and Mole Valley, so we're stocked -up now with vittles, chook food, grass seed and bone meal. :)

Almost reached home and decided to play Russian roulette along a narrow track which avoids the four o'clock school bus fiasco. That didn't work out, because just before it the road was closed. Just going to find an update now, but it looked like yet another accident near Pete's place.....:(

Edit: Nothing! Couldn't have been much, but we all had to turn around and go another way.

DW just saw 3 swallows! Hurrah! :j

Rummer of coarse it will be dry enough one day, but when that ONE day will be, who knows lol...

Sorry YES had you pm... absolutely fab....thank you...

Hubby I have come to the conclusion that I am on the 'change' so this is why I am a scatter brain lately, and maybe why I am so sensitive with stress etc lately... lol..

Bought layers mash yesterday only a 1kg of it, and it is riddled with harvest mit..... so its gone straight in the bin... don't like feeding anything that has mit in it, even thought it might be ok...

so I want to do my own mix... 3 parts layers pellets, 1 part mixed corn, but I need to grind it up for the quails.. what kitchen gadget that I can buy cheaply that will do the trick??

I was thinking... as will not be buying big sacks of poultry food for a bit... at least by buying corn an layers.. it will be at least fresher than the layers mash, as that isn't as popular as the others..

I know you can feed them on an aviary seed mix too, but that is a lot more expensive, I have fed them a wild bird mix for robins etc, which has very small seed, an crushed corn etc... but that will work out expensive, even from home bargains.. but they will have some mixed in with their food from time to time..

they are currently pecking on a broccoli head..

We just lost our ikea cactuses after 5 lovely years together :( they developed some kind of white fungus and slowly rotted away. They were great though while they lasted.

CTC When are you hoping to share good news with us?

Yes, she's cooler in a crisis and more efficient than me. Whatever it is, she'll have a list for it. ;)

The trees I ordered ages ago will be with us tomorrow. So, only another 50 to go in!

Many are only year old whips, fortunately, like the hazels I've bought to improve the hedge up near Mr Dog. Just wish I'd had them sooner. Others are for the copse or the garden. Once they're in, we have grass to sow. It should all be OK unless we get an early summer drought.

Coffee grinder? :D Depends a bit on how much you want to grind at once. Food processor might be good if you want to do larger amounts at once, though you can get smaller sized ones if you only want to do lesser amounts... We used to have a big food processor, but when it died (must have been over 20 years old, so it did Ok) we bought a smaller one, which is about right for doing stuff for just 2 people.

This keyboard is dying which is why the k in Ok here and above is lower case. Second to die on me in a month. Grrr. Other was wireless and wouldn't come back to life when the battery died. I stole this from OH, but he hammers keyboards so even though it's only a year or so old it's well past its best! Off to try buy new one tomorrow I suppose. :(

Yay!! Its summer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(well a very dull summer of 11 degrees here today, no rain but we have plenty of dust from the Sahara - hopefully too much isn't getting stuck in the paint that is being done on the outside of the house)

When do you get your x-ray results Dave?

lucielle have PM'd you - let me know if you have any problems.

what do you recommend if I fancy a further decent into a zombie future?

RAS it never occured to me that the mice would scoff my peas - I suppose they must be quite sweet when they are germinating.

Big shed move this afternoon....fingers crossed it stays intact.

Friends coming for a meal on Saturday - bit limited on what we can give them as only have a halogen table top cooker :o

ETA: Dave I'm sure you looked just as fetching in your backless gown as you did in your Emperor costume for the panto ;);)
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
