I need to source some oak sawdust as I don't fancy pine!
L
My BiL has just sent me some woodworm-riddled oak. Plenty of sawdust if that's shaken! :rotfl:Great logs, but so dodgy with the potential for old nails to wreck the chain saw. Didn't really want those!
He also sent the remains of a mahogany wardrobe, similarly affected. That went straight into my bonfire tonight. I've already collected two sacks of weeds (mainly bittercress) and burned the lot.
I like smoked meats, but too old now for mackerel in any format. Had 3 herring for dinner tonight, however, and no ill effects.....yet.0 -

Yes, it is, but not for my digestion!:o
When we were young things, DW and I would catch large mackerel, cook them and eat the lot without a second thought, but now we find they are a bit too oily & rich.
I find herrings OK though, if eaten with a decent amount of brown bread. My Mum used to do them in beaten egg & oatmeal, but I can never get that quite right.0 -
Morning all,
PP... at the moment they are down with us.. We are rushingly try to get to the brick building sorted.. cleaned out of old rubbish and years and years of leaf mould and put a roof on it... and section it parts of it off, to make one part so we can use it for farrowing, and then the other part will be used for the quail.. storing wood etc... BUT apart from the farrowing bit... the use of the other side might change lol... as originally it was going to be our own private bar and function room etc lol..
I don't want to tempt fate... but we might have some news over the next few days..Work to live= not live to work0 -

There's a temperature difference between 'up a hill in Scotland' and 'up a hill in Devon,' but this morning I can't see the other side of the valley and it's fair piddling down as we bask in our 11c.
Still, I think of all the good it's doing, watering in those small trees, especially the ones planted in hedges under existing trees, which will soon be having a tough time establishing when we dry out.
Quail aren't noisy birds....that's guinea fowl. It looks a good sized building, CTC.0 -
the inside measurement is 11 foot and 2 inches wide lol..
and I 'think' its approx. 57 foot long .. it used to be where they graded and stored the eggs, there is also the rusted remains of a cool room in there, which is the next thing to be dismantled and pulled out..
LOL.... Luceille.. your plant was posted out yesterday first class parcel.. so should be with you today or tomorrow..
Quails are lovely little birds, not noisey at all, but they are very nervous and 'flighty' I have them eating out of my hand, just to get used to me, but they get startled etc. boy do the jump...
the noisey birds are guniea fowl, AND if mr nimby carries on, he will have a nice pen of them right at the edge of his garden... not nice for the other neighbours... but I am sure they would get on his nerves..
Also found out from 'mr garden man' how lives next door to him, that his other neighbours do was out, so he reported it to the dog warden, rather than go to the neighbour and tell him... so the dog went to the dog pound, and he had to pay to get his dog back... so it looks as though he is an A-hole to everyone around the place.... which does make us feel every so very slightly better, as its not only us getting it in the neck from him...Work to live= not live to work0 -
