Just catching up ....
Hows Rumlet today Rummer? Feeling a bit over the weather now?
Puppies - can we have some piccies idc please:D:D Hope pups and Mum are all doing well.
I have two dogs Money, but barking dogs can drive you potty. In our last place a woman a couple of doors down used to let her dogs out first thing, and then shut them out for them to bark and wake up the whole neighbourhood. So selfish. Our old dog barks when someone comes to the door, which I like as I am on my own a lot, but is pretty quiet otherwise. Daft as a brush dog only barks when he has inadvertently got shut outside. He would happily let any stranger into the house and joyfully prance around whilst they stole everything we own!!!!
I would love to go to the Eden Project Dave. We did plan to go years ago when we were holidaying down that way but I wasn't well enough:(:(. Cornwall is quite a journey from East Anglia so haven't ventured back....
But on the horticultural theme.....my seeds arrived yesterday, so can get started on a bit more planting.
Had a lovely afternoon yesterday visiting friends - she has relatives with ME, so really understands and they all popped out with Mr BD for half an hour or so for a walk and I had a snooze so I didn't get too worn out. Very thoughtful.
Am ridiculously excited - new washing machine is coming today. Fingers crossed for dry weather (although the forecast doesn't look too good)It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Those on this thread long enough know why Mr Dog is called that. His dogs only bark when he and his lovely wife go out, leaving them in cages, sometimes all day.:(
The small dog, a terrier, is terrified when confined, so its barking is all stress-related. I know this because when I've seen it on odd occasions running free, it's just wagged its tail and trotted off, quite happy once it's seen I'm no threat.
Apart from that, there's a bit of stress barking when the dogs are first let out, probably because they have no clue whether they'll be locked up again inside a dark shed, which is where they apparently spend most of the time if either Mr/Mrs Dog is at home. The little one still yaps, but it's virtually inaudible.
Yesterday, early barking happened when I was letting the chickens out at 06.20, which must have been nice for the close neighbours across the road. Mr Dog claims to like them. He can't stand me! :rotfl:
If the dogs are left alone and barking, I sometimes go down there and leave Radio 4 on for a few hours. They can't keep reacting to voices etc over an extended period and usually give up after a while.
Since Mr & Mrs D came into a bit of money, they work less, so the problem has lessened considerably. Usually, one or the other is at home at least half of the day.0 -

It's OK.DW and partner were partly there for professional reasons, so it suited their purpose
I'll hazard a guess, however, that DW and I had just as good a time exploring, and it didn't cost us £36!0 -
Morning all!
Glad to hear everyone's plans are more or less in the implementation stagegood news on your arrivals Lucielle, my dogs are all collie types, agree CTC would love to know how much to train one like Kate's. I love Lambing live but it's making me all broody
I agree dogs barking constantly is not pleasant, mine have their reasons and I can usually stop them, but sometimes they're just playing and when the weathers good I prefer them to be out in the fresh air. I even trust three of them to run round the fields without me, they pretend to round up the sheep and my proper sheep dog one keeps putting the geese to bed :rotfl:
Been a bit hit and miss here with progress, I am so easily distracted with too many ideas cluttering up my brain. I tend to get a bit overwhelmed and can't seem to do anything useful on moving any of the projects forward! Anyone got any tips for getting organised, lists with critical paths etc etc?
then every now and again there is something with a deadline imposed by someone else and I can re-focus to get it done. I'm not the ideal personality type for self employment!
As an example, we have our next craft workshops at the beginning of April so the focus has been on advertising and now actually prepping the materials for the days - we're doing peg loom weaving this time -we made a couple of small rugs for demos and my business partner and I are really fired up again.
We've also had news that we've been given a small stand at a local show soon, so our brains are working double time for that.
As a treat my crafty friends and I have been going to a series of beginners spinning workshops locally, 2 hours a week over 4 weeks, not too much of a commitment but enough to make me leave the house and devote some quality time to crafts.
It finished last night and we all really enjoyed it, it's a bit time consuming but small batches are quite achievable, plus there's some clever techniques and things to make yarn you just can't get from the shops.
I must plug my phone in and get the pictures on the computer, will try and post a couple up...
My current distraction is the outcome of a meeting with the planning dept yesterday, I don't think the work we've done will be refused permission nor would the work we have yet to do. But I now have bundles of forms to fill in, a planning consultant to find and several hundreds of pounds to part with
BTW Dave you wouldn't happen to have a photo of the ferret houses? We are planning a good sized outdoor run for our gang and any ideas for layout would help. They are currently indoors in a large cage sold for parrots etc, hardly des res!
Hope to hear from the missing day dreamers soon, it's not the same without you all:A

Just catching up as - on the subject of dogs - I'm dog-sitting our two today in an attempt to keep them entertained and distracted from licking the joiners (here all the week fitting our new timber sash windows, yay :j) to death, whilst simultaneously adapting some curtains to fit the windows that are so much smaller here than in our last house
Thankfully the weather is dry - albeit freezing - and there are only two more windows to go.....plus all the making good etc etc so we've been fortunate in that respect! They've saved the hardest one till last though - one with Georgian shutters - and I'm concerned that they'll have issues with that when they tackle it tomorrow. They are extremely neat, conscientious and clean workers though, so hopefully I'm worrying for nothing!
BD - do hope your new washing machine arrives ok and lives up to expectations.....your OH will have to be cast as *Wishy Washy* in his next panto, lol :rotfl:
Dave - sounds as though you and your DW had a lovely day out, without the need to fork out entry to the Eden Project - mind you, we've never been and it's somewhere we'd like to visit. DS went a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it......I know when we visited Heligan (not long after it opened) we were truly inspiredWe really need to make some time to do that sort of thing this year as, what with two back-to-back projects, we've not had a holiday for eight years
CTC - sounds as though the eBay sales are going well.....ours have taken a back seat the last couple of weeks as the current *push* to get stuff finished on the project (coupled with countless trips down to see my dad in Portsmouth) has taken over.
Just need to get the next month over - by which time most of our ground floor should be complete - and we can get back to where we left off in the garden......brick paths to finish pointing, stone walling to build and veg to get planted - won't be from seed as we currently are without a greenhouse (and indoors is too dusty/no space) so hopefully can pick up some plug plants locallyMortgage-free for fourteen years!

I'll take a photo before we fill it with junk.
The good one was built with an insulated sleeping compartment and it's wonderful, but the person who made it is better at construction than design, so it doesn't come apart for transport. It needs at last three strong people to shift it.
Heligan's on our list too, phoebe, but not in March!0 -
FK... do you know anyone local selling pol chickens... looking for brown egg layers..
typical.. all our birds have gone now... and all of a sudden people are asking us for eggs again..
hubby has promised youngest to take him somewhere, so don't really want to go to ffairfach on Saturday on my own...I will not only feel lonely lol, but it will be leathal hahahaha...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Nothing leaps to mind for POL will keep an eye in the feed places etc
Could meet you there Saturday?!? I haven't been for ages, nothing I really need buuuuuut I might be tempted with some eggs for hatching....lethal!0 -
Just in from a few hours working in the garden :j
Another path cleared of debris, the raspberry bed is partially clear and I planted my bleeding heartTonight I am going to decide what to plant in place of the raspberries and get the border started. I am so excited
Sadly it looks as if the potting shed is going to be a goner this yearThe roof and the floor are rotten and currently it is sitting at a jaunty angle. No money to replace ti properly so we are thinking of getting a plastic storage thingy and then decide what we want to do. Removing it would really open up the garden and give us a lot more options in relation to the design.
Soooooo many things to think about and so many decisions to make.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer, the thing is the price on shed, even seconhand ones are really holding their prices now, a few years back you could pick a decent one up for nothing... what about a greenhouse in its place?? or do you want somewhere to store things too??
Fk... pm me your number and I let you know
I would love to go back hatching again, but I got to be realistic... I haven't got the time... I should imagine the hatching eggs will be in demand, so prices are normally high this time of the year..Work to live= not live to work0
