Well I threw caution to the wind and went out into the garden and weeded some pots, turned over one of the raised beds and tried to map out the new beds. However I seem to be unable to cope with our triangular garden and could not think how to site them :rotfl: So hubby came to the rescue! I am only able to think in a spread sheet format :rotfl:
Tonight I will plant some seeds although not sure yet which ones or how many of them to plant! Too many decisions to make! I think my wee mind is going to short circuit with all the possibilities!
I just want to pack in the most growing space while still having a reasonably attractive garden. Does anyone remember where on the thread the pics of Rhiwfields garden are? I remember his layout was great. If you are about Rhiwfield some pics would be fab!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
had a nice night out in one of our pubs we used frequent years ago ( it will also be our local-ish pub to the ranch)
shared a taxi home with friends that own a livery on the other side of our lane... so we got dropped off at the top of our lane.. and we had our torches to have some light to walk down our VERY dark lane...lol..
was a bit tipsy after only drinking 2 pints of larger ( this wasn't even a warm up in my younger years)..
and got up thinking we had a good lie in... and thought the time was about 9.30 10 am... and when I switched the tv on it was 2.50pm!!!!!! I just couldn't believe it.... considering I haven't been sleeping properly for well over a year..... lol....
so now my body clock is def out of sinc .
LIR.... so glad to hear from you, and that you have heat....will need it now, as the frost is def here with the open skies we have been having on the nights...
I got a funny feeling that mega lie in/sleep this morning will be bitting me in the butt over the next few days..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Glad you had a good night CTCTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Not posted for ages, not since we went to the wedding in Cambridge I think. Took me 2 weeks to get over that - 4 days on the road! We stopped overnight on both the way down and the way back as I can't take long drives and still be compos mentis in any way. :rotfl:
Still not planted any seeds, but OH did the Aldi run on Thursday and bought a couple of black currant bushes, some cauliflower plugs, and some strawberry plants.Oh, and some tunnels for the lottie to keep the %*%$ pigeons off the plants. Our potatoes are chitting nicely on the kitchen windowsill, glad we haven't planted them yet as clear sky tonight (yeah Orion!) and frost forecast. But I rather think tis time to get them in?
Went to dear MiL's flat on Wednesday as auctioneers coming this Thursday to take stuff for sale. Had hoped to visit her, but after about 4 hours sorting in flat with BiL and SiL was too knackered. Then Friday we did a good stint at old home sorting and packing and brought a pile of stuff home. Still seem to have a lot to do there. So hardly surprising haven't been to Lottie this weekend... Yesterday could barely move as back so sore. Much better today, but taking another day to rest up, tomorrow just might get to visit MiL, if not it's going to be pot on the cauliflowers.
Guess I should get the tomato and courgette seeds going ASAP? And the peas, beans and broadies? Hope it isn't too late!
Hugs to all with sick rellies, and to those who aren't well themselves - Dave and CTC spring to mind. Rummer, glad to hear that you are getting garden plans together. Remember that gardens take time to establish, and you don't have to do it all at once. Nasturtiums are easy seeds, edible leaves, flowers and seeds, and pretty to boot. I recommend them for any spot that gets a little sun as a holding and filling crop.
LiR, so happy to hear that you have hot water! :j
Hope that Alfie is doing OK and getting over her nasty illness caused by the carelessness of her previous landlord's agent. (Grrr)
Better Days, so sorry not replied to your PM yet - Life Keeps Happening! But will get back to you sometime when I've enough time to give you a proper response. Glad things are moving on in your new home, hope you can give us some pictures when you have time.
I'm looking for a new laptop as the Toshiba that I use in bed has died... I read stuff on my Kindle Fire, but it's a pain to reply using the touch screen keyboard. Any recommendations? Been looking at a couple of Acers, but not sure what to do about Win8 which I'm dreading using.
Antiques Roadshow about to start, so better go!0 -

Lambing live starts on Tuesday, so cant wait for that..

We also got a funny feeling the last remaining female 'boglin' might be pregnant.. either that, she is a greedy pig and eating all the food lol.. soooo watching her like a hawk... just incase..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Nice to get your news maggie, and to hear you had a good lie-in CTC!
With the DDs and their OHs here, its been fairly busy, but we're on a roll now with tree planting, as indeed we must be if they're all to go in on time.
On Saturday, we shifted all 30 of the cotoneasters we'd grown-on in the nursery area and made a hedge with them to separate the caravan plot from the rest of the garden. They are two year old bushes now, so that should establish quickly.
Yesterday, I managed to move another dozen hornbeams to continue the hedge between us and the thatchers. They have kindly moved most of the block-making stuff that was pushing their fence into our field, so now, when we continue planting, it will be in a straight line!
Over Saturday night, hen with prolapse in sick bay laid two eggs, one soft-shelled, so that cleared things up for her and she went back to the flock.
Last night, DD2's partner turned some of Pete's lamb into a very special curry. I watched carefully.;) I can see that happening again! :rotfl:
Oh, and I have a few peas coming up, RAS, so they're viable after all. :j0 -
Hope your back continues to improve Maggie and lovely to hear all your news. Not too late to plant seeds, at least I hope not, I've still got a fair few to do. Pacing myself trying to do a little every day.
My marigolds have germinated :j They made a lovely show last year, flowered their hearts out.
And a novelty - a frost this morning. But lovely and sunny atm so hopefully it will be a bit warmer today. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Frosty here too, but it looks as though its going to be a nice sunny dry day...
but 3 items on ebay for auction rather than BIN, and the 2 that sold I was a bit shocked at what they sold for.( in a good way) so I will be keeping my out for that type of stuff to list in auction style, Plus I really do need to start finding higher value items to list... to bump those pennies up..
Also going to try and do small weekly payments on Credit Cards, to try and sneak them down without feeling the pinch...
The last year I have not been on the ball at all, and sort of lets things slip...
Think that VERY long lie in has brought me back into getting myself back organised...lol...
right another cuppa before going to work... booooooWork to live= not live to work0
