Our politicians are always rabbiting-on about the roll-out of superfast this and fibre optic that, but for many, the reality is a long wait for something that should be automatic.

"British Telecom....we'll get round to it, eventually." :(

Still, never mind, that van looks a cracker! :T

That's a pita Alfie :( We had the same issue when we bought this place, we were a few weeks without t'internet which just isn't on when you're trying to run a business online  Luckily we weren't totally dependent on it.......

Do hope you manage to keep us all updated as we'll be thinking of you and your impending move and will be keeping everything crossed it all goes according to plan :)

Yesterday was a lovely day, weather-wise - bright and sunny - so we headed off to a very expensive antiques fair......didn't see a single soul parting with any cash and saw nothing that tempted us, but we did see Mark Stacey from the TV ;)

Rain here today.....drizzle this morning, but tipping down now. Fortunately we've a ton of stuff to get on with inside - DH is plastering (again!) and I've been painting another ceiling. Tomorrow the (replacement) plumber is here to do first fix in the Summer sitting room plus some other bits :D Hoping to finally get the flooring ordered this week too!

On the subject of wood burners, we too have been feeling the cold, despite the mildness of the Winter - for the first time ever we seem to have lit the stove every evening, but we only have the oil heating on for a handful of hours each night......sometimes only for an hour :o I thought it was down to me thinking the snug looked gloomy without a fire - not really sure though......

Also decided we might get some chickens - I know, we're s'posed to be thinking of moving later this year, but SIL having them in her tiny garden on the outskirts of a city has convinced me they are one thing we're lacking here where we have oodles of space.......

CTC... ive PM'd you but your box is full.

well we have a hullabaloo storm here and guess who got caught in it....:o

i was digging/moving shrubs and pots with plants in and down it came. i just carried on and postie arrived with his super duper long trailer and we loaded then unloaded at new house. we looked like refugee's from a ship wreck...:rotfl:

i am so cold now and am off to new house for the night and a long hot bath and hairwash/detangle so this may be my last posting for a while.

    take care . xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I managed a small amount of gentle tidying up in the garden this afternoon before I got rained off. Had a bit of bone removed from my left wrist just before Christmas. All was going well until a couple of weeks ago or so when I managed to pull something - not sure what. Trying to be sensible to allow healing but not easy!

Finally managed to send off the vital statistics of our place to a guy who does biomass systems, but not holding my breath on that one......

Also had to order more oil, so if we do have a milder spring than last year, we'll be roasted.... and paying for the privilege. :(

I know you might not be able to read this alfie, but for goodness sake try to rest a bit this week once you're installed!!!:naughty::naughty:

Trying to sort out what trees we still need to buy, but not having had a chance to plant what we have, it's difficult. Reckon we need at least another 25 hazels, just to do the bit of hedge I've cleared of blackthorn this year. That will please Mr Dog, who thinks the holes are there for me to spy on him.:rotfl:

Thread doesn't feel the same knowing Alfie is away for a while. :(

Cracking hail fall at about half seven this morning, maybe a bit earlier.

Water NOT pouring down path under some pressure from rain last night!

Intruder to farm yard last night. Nothing taken, geese earned a few apples as alarms. Definitely man, not beast.......gate to lagoon and farmyard were open. Horse watch/far watch coordinator lovely and asked if DH were here and did I want one of them to come and kip here over night.....isn't that sweet? Off course, DH was here, and if he weren't I'd be fine, Sterner stuff than that.

Or so I like to think. I got some sleep , but poor DH hardly sLept a wink for watching out of windows and waiting for the b'ggers to come back.

Glad everything is ok LIR - and that nothing was taken/damaged/you and DH weren't attacked :o It's good to know there is a support network there for you if you did need it when your DH is away though :)

Surprise, surprise replacement plumber failed to materialise as arranged this morning - apparently he tried three routes to get to us and all had roads closed due to flooding from rainfall that occurred yesterday. Says he'll be here tomoz.....we'll see

Really working against the clock now to get two rooms semi-habitable (ie, walls plastered & everything except new skirting painted, oak flooring laid and furniture moved out of the way) in time for new windows to go in......don't think we'll make it, but DH is confident (always the optimist :p) it'll get done and as he's doing most of it I guess he should know ;)

Ordered a very nice antique dining table today which has cheered me up a little as was feeling somewhat depressed by sheer amount we have to do :D

Thinking of Alfie and hoping all is going well and that she'll soon be settled in her lovely new abode :)

Cold and dank here, and the smell of death upstairs. I wonder if a bat has died in the attic (we saw the bats back at the weekend) . Stinks anyway.

Off to take dog dog in to be spayed. Hate doing it, but know its best decision for her.
