Another grass cutter here. Some of ours was way too long for the mower, so I went for it with the brushcutter. Used my new thicker line, which only just fitted, but only used about 5cm in 50 minutes cutting, so terribly MSE.
:D
Most of the time I was cutting the inside of the elm hedge using Pete's Mum's hedge trimmer, which is massively better than mine. Pete did the outside and most of the top last month, but we can't have his tractor in the garden.
Tomatoes were OK.:) A couple of days ago they were in the propagator, so leaving them in a conservatory to drop to about 4c wasn't a great move!0 -
No grass cutting here, BUT a big fire was had up the ranch...
FK flip you really have lost a lot of animals then??
We are devastated with big girl going.... even though it was a suspected heart attack, and our others are fine... I am putting a self ban on going anywhere with pigs.. so def not going to market on Friday now.... I am prob being totally OTT lol..
Other big girl is being a selfish pig.... and cant decide which arc to sleep in ( we now have 2 in the run because she would not allow him in her arc)... and keeps kicking him out of the one she wants to go in lol...
weatherwise I hope we get a nice weekend.... so we can do 'outdoor' things lol..
AND.... it will be 2 years tomorrow we won our place at Auction...Where has the time gone....??????Work to live= not live to work0 -
morning all,
fine misty rain here....
hope Alfie is ok...
Rhiwie how is ebay with you?? with me it seems when I do get sales, they are all in clusters lol... sell a few things within a few hours of each other, then nothing...
I really cant get over it... 2 years today... that I was sitting in work, on the phone doing telephone bids ... shaking and panicking when the property came up for auction...
I could write a book on what has gone wrong since we bought the place... but I am sure people would not believe the amount of things that could go wrong to one person...lol..
BUT battle on we will.....
cant wait for the weekend, I am sure someone said it was going to be nice...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Looks all good for a while after today in these parts.
I need a bit of a rest after yesterday anyway, and there will be things to do in the polytunnel.
One of the Vorwerks laid an egg yesterday that almost matched our record of 102g laid by a large Welsummer. Popping out a 95g monster, one wonders how she managed it, bearing in mind Vorwerks are on the small side.
The Fenton Blues are trouble-free, friendly birds which lay decent-sized eggs, but these are never quite as good as the pure (or even not quite pure!) breeds. Maybe it is just a fault with this particular hybrid strain? More info needed, I think.
CTC, if you have still got your health and most of your marbles there's always a bright side around the corner. :A I've heard of so many people in the last few months who've suddenly discovered to serious illness, it's scary. Two more yesterday......:(0 -
Davesnave.... yes you are right....but the stress of everything has taken its toll on me..
I need to get back to my normally organised life.. everything has totally run away with me... with not being able to handle things like I used to...
Which I should imagine everyone goes through in some stage of their lives...Just so happens its now with me, and its at 'that time of life' lol..
I really cant wait to start getting lost while pottering around in the greenhouse and the garden...
Are you going to be trying to grow something new this year??Work to live= not live to work0 -
Belated birthday congrats Choille. I would love to see a pic of the goats and kids if possible. Love goast.
Sorry to hear about your herd FK, they are such characters and your piggy CTC!
DS1 was really late home last night, cow calving which ended up having a section and it was twins. It's about the third set they've had., luckily this time shes got milk and he hasn't got to go to our dairy farmer friend for top ups. He was knackered when he got in.
Must stop procrastinating and get on with the books.

Hi all,
Sorry to hear the sad news about your big girl CTC and your flock FK
Hope Dog Dog is recovering well LIR
We really need to get out and do some work in the garden as it's looking a real mess what with all the rain we've had and a bad attack of moles  However, there just isn't time as we're really up against the clock with getting the work done inside, so outside is having to take a back seat. We did finally manage to order the 65 sq m of flooring needed though and the plumber is back tomoz to finish first fix - after a trip out in his Porsche to Silverstone.....plumbers eh?:D
On the subject of cars we took a much needed day off yesterday and ventured out on a bit of a road trip looking for a new (and larger) Landy to accommodate both our two dogs and stock when we have to collect it. DH really doesn't want to part with his much loved SVX (60th anniversary model) but needs must as it's really far too smallThink we *may* have found something suitable - trouble is it needs to be both practical and a *mean machine* to appeal to DH, lol :rotfl:

Is that goat on toast , lucielle?
I don't think I'll be growing anything novel this year, CTC. We are really up against it for getting the building started, and to be honest, I've been disappointed with the weird things I've had a go at.
The oca weren't productive, so literally a waste of space, and the yacon were.....well, underwhelming on the taste front, although they make an acceptable radish substitute and they can be hidden in stir-fries. My DD1 + husband liked them roasted, but our friend here who usually likes anything wasn't keen. So, still have quite a lot of those!
I will carry on growing quilquina as a coriander replacement, but the new feathery coriander 'Confetti' has been easy to grow and went right through the winter for me.0 -

It's been raining heavily from dawn to dusk in Glasgow
Streets are like rivers but at least it'll all flowing away.
Just as well the crocus hadn't opened or they'd have been flattened0
