A bright day here today which is lovely and has turned my thoughts to the garden:D

I am planning on getting the greenhouse sorted when the weather is more settled. It needs panels replaced and a good scrub down as last year it was left to be filled with wild rocket. Then I can get some things started indoors. This year is going to be the year I get the garden sorted!

The main issue though is how wet the ground is :( our garden really holds water so it will be a long time until the ground is dry enough to plant things out.

What is the best thing to use to kill nettles and brambles? We currently have a wildlife area that we need to tame so we can build a den for the children.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

Money, although I'm glad you appreciate the outfit, please delete the picture from your post.

I've already removed the original because the longer it stays here, the greater the chance that I will be ID'd by someone in the village.

If that happens, I won't be posting here again for a long time.

We should make a rule about this. Obviously there is no risk in posting or quoting a piccy of a sheep or a packet of bacon, but for reasons of privacy, pictures of ourselves, or easily recognisable features of our local community should be under our own control.

    Yes? :)

Sorrees Dave...didn't realise it was a "temporary thing". Deleted when I saw your later post saying that it had been.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Davesnave,

I thought that was the unspoken, taken for granted rule, on here anyway.

Might be worth having a private spin off forum, as well as this one, which I think I have suggested before, not to replace this one, but to run along side this one for times where we want to show pictures etc..

Dh has asked me not to post pics of the kiwi too. :(.

No problem at all. We don't always announce when pictures or links will be coming down, mainly because there's no great need for them to be quoted. It's different from text.

Like some others, I'm prepared to take a few risks, but I want to be in control of them. ;)

Sorry to hear about your hard-to-obtain Ixworth, rozee. Unfortunately, some hens do seem to stay out in all weathers, especially if they are 'new.' Going to roost in the dark is easy, but braving the pecking order in the daytime can be daunting.

Here, we have a few felt repairs to do on the smaller chicken house, but the biggest casualty is one viburnum tinus which is only about 3' in each direction, yet it has been wrenched apart at the centre. I will just make loads of cuttings! :p

Which reminds me....Rummer, I'm setting up[ my propagator tomorrow and sowing toms & peppers. :j

Wasn't it at Milford on Sea? If it was, they'll all have been oldies.

(And I can say that, now I'm a fully fledged OAP! :p :rotfl:)

Nah, you're only old when you worry about falling over. ;)

Regarding that restaurant, there are a few questions which should be answered:
    • given that it was only built in 2010, who put up the money for something in that location?
    • who passed the plans?
    • when there were so many warnings for the South Coast last night, why did the owner go ahead with the Valentines Dinner?

1.. there was a resteraunt/cafe there for donkeys years, i think a fire finished it off. various people wanted to "build" there but another resty got the PP. not sure where those costs came from , slight exageration me finks ;)
    2. its not actually that close to the shore. that part of the beach has a wide road and a wide stretch before the water [normally:o] the shore slopes away steeply too. so quite a bit lower than the road level.i often walk the dogs there in summer and it leads out to hurst castle . the route being very high shingle [plus man made] bank/path. the other side of which is marshes and i dont know if this was breeched ??
    3. i am surprised they went ahead considering the warnings that were issued. [a lot of pubs etc along the shore closed]me finks greed !!
