Alfie - great to hear you have got your boiler fixed - especially this time of year. Lets hope it stays fixed until you leave
This is a very interesting article in Pulse - a magazine for doctors http://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/your-practice/practice-topics/it/over-40-of-gps-intend-to-opt-themselves-out-of-caredata-scheme/20005648.article#.UuucmrSOatE
Basically the government is selling off patient data regarding our healthcare to private companies and researchers. The data is supposed to be anonymised BUT - the data will include your date of birth, full postcode, gender, ethnicity and NHS number along with your medical details. In my view this will make it easy for, say insurance companies, to identify individuals and use the information for commercial purposes. How many people in your exact postcode, have the same date of birth and gender as you?
As some of you may know I had a long running battle with my insurer when I became too unwell to work. In my experience they were happy to lie and mislead to get out of paying up. They even put me under surveillance. I wouldn't trust them an inch.
GP's are also uneasy about this 41% of those surveyed will be opting out. But - you have to opt out by contacting your GP, otherwise you will be automatically opted in. And once the data is uploaded, that's it - you can't withdraw it.
If you want some more info here is a leaflet produced by a doctor, and you can complete the 'opt out' section to give to your GP if you are not happy to have your healthcare information uploaded

This caredata initiative shouldn't be confused with the 'Care Summary Record' which is for the use of clinical staff http://www.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/systemsandservices/scr/staff/aboutscr/comms/publications/4706web.pdfIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

This might be useful http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/142151.aspx?
Having had a couple of run ins in that area inn the last 15 months; I think you will find that the motorway is functional even when a lot of other transport is a problem. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

As RAS says, Motorway is always OK.
Edit: I've just seen that RAS beat me to it with the map. Looking at that, the area where we are is about the only place where there are no warnings.Still bloomin soggy though!

CTC what do you 'do' at the shows. Sorry not read back through the thread so im not up to speed. I make herbal potions and do workshops. Grow herbs too and bin wondering if it's worth going along to a show. There's quite a few nearby but ive never been. Is it expensive to have a stand? Ta. The sausages were delicious so worth having again as a treat.
Really cold here the last few days and snow showers are in our future which will keep me indoors
Does anyone wear those shower proof walkers trousers? I have been doing a lot of walking but am poorly equipped for foul weather and feel proper water proof trousers would be excessive in the park:rotfl: Also need to get a comfy pair of walking trainers as the sole came off mine. Any recommendations?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
