Phoebe - Really sory to hear about your Mother. It's a worrying time & not a good thing to happen. Hope she picks up well.
Lucielle - Sorry to hear that things are fraught for you just now - sending light & good wishes down the wires.
In Inverness today and had a snoop round Homebase as they seem to have pulled their socks up somewhat. I always thought it was a bit tatty & dog-eared, but they seem to have Farrow & Ball paint, Habitat bits & bobs, Laura Ashley tiles etc. Seen some nice big chrome light shades on offer on the web, so went & got them & some paint samples. Priced some Corian worktop, but for a run - not that long, nearly £1,000 - they can keep that. Also priced some index type pulls - £12 each, they can stick them on their drawers coz they aint getting near mine at that price.:D
Also bought a Kilmarnock willow as I killed the last one last year - well the frost did. So that's me gone a tad berserk, but not that much, but for Choille that was a shopping frenzy;) 'pecially as I hit the Charity shops with an alarming number of, must have, must have, must have, buys. Mr Choille looked strained. The Red Cross does everything at £1.99 - it's brilliant.
We'd picked up some hay earlier on & the car was stuffed to the gunwhales...A right pair of hicks, eh?0 -

I wouldn't let anyone near my drawers for £12 either.....:rotfl:
Sorry, still in Panto mode from last night's rehearsal:o. There, I was extremely impressed by the way my more skilled companions continue to develop a very pedestrian script into something worth watching.
Hope BUHA & Pratt manage to sort something for you soon alf. Previous experience doesn't inspire confidence, but they have the added ingredient of motivation this time.
Afraid my experience with Screwfix electric chain saws doesn't inspire confidence either. My last one lasted under an hour when it failed to oil its chain adequately, and the replacement has developed a screech, which seems to be the chain brake not operating properly. I shall wear the chain out a bit more and then go back for a refund.
Any recommendations for electric saws? I find they're fine for those logs that don't warrant a petrol saw, but which aren't any fun to cut up with a hand saw.
Agree about Homebase, choille, though when we went in for a kitchen planning session they'd just altered their software and we were guinea pigs. It took several hours, then it wouldn't print out, and the plans still haven't reached our in-box. The staff were nice though and their thoughts on the space available were worth hearing. We're now altering the window layout in view of what was discussed art that meeting.0 -
Well, forecast keeps saying its cold outside, and I expected it to be because the geese toddles in by themselves last night but its mild here.
I imagine the think duvet of greyness we are wrapped in is fairly insulating!0 -
Alfie,
First thread I found on boiler breakdowns in rented property in the house buying/ renting forum. It seems its important to push the issue at the beginning of this sort of incident not retrospectively.

It's freezing cold here today! However rum let and I headed out on an adventure to the park and local allotment food shop. The produce looked good but the prices were :eek: so I only bought some rare breed sausages for tonight's tea and we will see how they go down.
Sorry to hear so many are having a tough time.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hi Dave - We bought an electric chainsaw from LIDL for £60 & it's doing away just the ticket. We got told about a Green Chainsaw from B&Q that was about £70, but we didn't ever get around to getting one there, but was told they were relly good & called Green something.
Glad the panto is not pants.
Rummer good to get some fresh air. Thing is with home produce/small scale, the costs are higher. Hope the rare breed sausages are a rare treat.
Tonight we are off to watch a film that was made here. It's all a bit dark & sinister, but it will be interesting to see the locations shots. They made a mock up old petrol station up the road - It was so realistic tourists were stopping to get fuel.
The film is called Shell & it was made a couple of years back.0 -

Lidl's tools can be good. I have an electric drill from them that I can't kill. It fell 7' onto concrete last summer and survived without a chip or anything.
The B&Q saw has the same body as the Screwfix one, but it seems to have a lower powered motor and there is no mention of a 2 year guarantee. I expect they are both churned out of the same Chinese factory. I'm perfectly happy with the cutting power, just fed up that both have developed problems on the day I took them out of the box.0 -

If I bought a brace ot take home with us,what the heck do I do with them? how long do you leave them hang? ( I did 'poke' them and they were stiff lol) and do you roast them like chicken??Work to live= not live to work0
