    Ras,

    Hubby is 6'2 and I am 5ft and a fart...lol..

If it's going to work for you, 3 fart 6" is probably much better than 5' then! :rotfl:

BTW. I'm hanging onto your 'parcel' so it won't reach you until you're back from Westpoint.;)

Lir, I don't know if you've missed it but there's a very detailed response on your Pellet Boiler Saga ....or are you waiting for fir to have a look at it?

Got my chainsaw trousers back from the alterations lady in the village, who took about 5" off them (I am only 5 fart 4" :o.) They looked perfect, despite this involving 9 layers of fillings. She wanted to charge me £5! :rotfl: I improved on that, as they weren't very expensive to start with. Well pleased. :D

I feel quite deflated tonight. ATM I feel it might be worth having a landscaper build beds because at least they'll get done

If it makes you feel any better, we started a fruit cage and deep beds this time last year. Got the first row of poles in (40') and the first side of deep bed (17' long) then abandoned through lack of time.

We simply had to do the polytunnel beds, which we now think are too low. :o

Might get one outdoor deep bed functional this year! The 'inherited' ones are going,,,, :undecided

LIR, I've seen railway sleepers used for longer narrow beds, cut in half depth wise, not lengthwise IYSWIM? So you get twice the sleeper for your money.

Pressed the button and got the tax return submitted :j:j:j

Just spent a happy twenty minutes with the chickens in the shed. It is very theraputic watching them scratching around and chuckling to themselves. I took them out some sweetcorn so I was very popular. One brave chuck even took some out of my hand. They don't squwark with horror when I visit them now.:)

The deal of eggs in exchange for feed and somewhere to scratch around all day seems to be acceptable to them. I have put a tray down with some dry compost and DE in for them to use as a dust bath, but they don't appear to have got the hang of it yet :D:D:D
    .

That tax submission button-press is deeply satisfying, isn't it?

We use DE with our chooks, but it's expensive, so I'm experimenting with dried soil and wood ash.

    So far, no complaints. :)

We don't have a saw capable of that I think. I'm really blue about it all today. I did get a pink stripe painted on a wall today, Not rock the world stuff but something done,:rotfl:

Dave I hadn't seen that, thank you!

Ras, that what I am going to be using... is secondhand scaffolding boards, I did pick some up for free via FB, but hubby is using them at mo, but there is a place local to us, that sells their old boards for £5 each, they are 13ft long, so we can make our raised beds 8x5ft ...

And at that width you get three sides out of every scaff board as well.

I would go for 13 fart long beds.

I was going to dig one in all along the east side of the plot as it is lower and the soil spills out etc...........

But that went by the by last year.

    Might try again this year
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

LIR - For lazy, put-up-quick sake you get ex-military stackable raised beds that you can build as high as you want - they look good at differing heights.

I think they start at £15.
