    Ok,

    Raised beds......

I need them smooth sided (might clad with something later) and about a foot high, would go deeper gladly. 18 inches for the bottom one would be nice so I could put a 'shelf' on the edge to be a bench. Anyone any idea what is the cheapest, most durable way to build them would be? I know dave spoke about half round rails, but as I want them smooth that's no good, though love the simplicity of the idea.

The minute I get the date for the bloody work out the back there to start and finish I want to get the beds IN.

'Cheapest, most durable" doesn't compute! :p

The standard way is 150 x 22mm tanalised boards fixed to 2" x 2" (47 x 50 mm in metric I think!) posts, hammered in.

If you are going high, then something more substantial might be needed for sides and fixing......dung board????

    Dung board?

Height, think wedding cake......each layer will only be 18inch or 1 foot, certainly only a foot at the top! (Oh god, really I should scale the three layers, shouldn't I? 18, 15,12 inches? )

So each layer not taking too much strain?

    Alfie..

I know this sounds totally ott BUT!!!!

Is there a way where the LL has to pay for your alternative accomedation while your house is being repaired? moving costs?

OR just having a meeting a say either give me a few grand... ( a nice juicy amount) and that will be the end of the matter etc or you will hang um out to dry, and expose them to the local papers too, the bad publicity wouldn't do them any good lol

    now theres athought ;):D:D

welll...... turns out they should have done this when my tenancy changed in 2012... they cant serve me notice unless this is done....:rotfl:

    quote from regs ..

The decision in the Court of Appeal has clarified that, in this scenario, the deposit should be protected and the Prescribed Information served at the time the tenancy became periodic or was renewed. This is a change to the way in which it was understood the legislation was meant to operate but nonetheless is now the legal position.

    they are soooooo panicking :D:rotfl:
they could be fined 1-3 times deposit plus deposit returned..:p

so its obvious they want to do this in order to serve me notice..
HANDED IT TO ME ON A PLATE....PLANKS !!!:rotfl:

i can now tell them that not only did this break the law but also the last rent increase was illegal.. if they dont pay up let the court see the rabbit so to speak ;):D

Love it alfie; what a load of amateurs.

The only fly in the ointment here alfie is that the initial court costs to apply for the penalty deposit is £1000. Although they pay that if you win.

However by the time they have paid you back the deposit..........

Check on the housing forum re the increase as I think that if you pay it you are assumed to agree it?????????? But that might only be if the correct paperwork was sent?????

If I was them, I would bung alfie 2 times the deposit and pray she left quitely.

There is other negative publicity here....isn't your ll offspring (barely) in the public eye? Or have I got wrong person? Though...all column inches are publicity.....

Hope it all works out Alfie, but you will need to check it out as others have said before spending it!

Quite okayish here today. Even got some washing out. Snowed quite heavily yesterday but it's all thawed & is rather mild now - thankfully. Off out to potter again...............

    Old scaffold boards?

We get some donated at intervals by a company when they clear out the ones not suitable for continued use. Cheaper for them than landfill fees and less problematic than a fire.
