Of course, LIR......it would be my pleasure
Will try to get round to posting some shower room pics, a) when I've taken some and b) when I get the hang of using photobucket on the iPad, lolMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Many congratulations Rummer - Take it as easy as you can.
Glad Dog Dog seems on the mend a little LIR.
I'm sure your colour sense is as good as it gets. Dark brown is brave. I once did kitchen cupboards 'tobacco' & it was a begger to cover when I changed it to pale scheme..after a good few years I may add.
RAS - That looks a nasty accident & expensive incident re vet's fees. What a lovely looking animal.
Alfie - My cat yowls & looks confused & has done for ages, but still goes out for the loo & finds his way back in the flapper. I had him at the vet for a snuffle, but she seemed to think he was doing very well for his age - about 20. He has some bad teeth but an anaesthetic is out of the question - it'd kill him, so he get's mushy food, finely shredded meat, mince etc.
Dave - Yours shrinking out the way? I have the same prob. I was allus a skinny wee thing until I stopped smoking & this past couple of years I seem to have become swollen, mind you it could be the tabs I have to take.
Hope everyone is well & this year is a much better one all round.
I've been off-line as our 'puter took a strike of lightening, but it was n't wrecked - thankfully, just needed a fix - so that was lucky.
Our weather has been foul, really horrid, but we aint flooded & we have enough to eat & we got out water on today after it coked up, so we flushed out the pipes after I fell in the burn checking the pipe!
Not been doing much apart from feeding animals & the basics as it has rained & howled gales & hailed down for ever it appears.
I am going to price replacement kitchen cabinet doors. The 2nd units I got are really good, but the doors & drawer fronts are a sort of fawn/peach formica with a strip of indented wood for handles. I think it would take a bit of painting over & I don't know if the handles will just look naff - can't make up my feeble mind.
Ramble ramble ramble.....
Happy New Year to us
Whaur's like us?

I've been collecting a good amount of stuff too, so if it's not like today was, there should be a good conflagration here as well.
I'll look forward to your good news on Friday, after the full report on Thursday's D Day!
"Shrinking out the way...." I love that one, choille! :rotfl:Good to have you back in the land of Daydream. :dance:0 -
didnt you tell me it was your step son that went up on roof to fix flashing round the chimney ? maybe it wasnt done ,albeit best he could, not tight fit enough ? seems to be a long term reoccuring problem and as said once water finds a route then it can cause a lot of damage over time.
you did say your bedroom is/has been long term permenantly damp so maybe capping the chimney too may help.
edit... sorry youve said chimney is capped. BUT in the pic has chimney been reduced in height level with parrapit ? thats unusual. how/who capped that top wall ? it looks like it is level which if it is, water will follow the line [thats why window sills slope slightly and should have a groove underneath to stop water in its natural line from getting to wall] who did the work ? and you refer to a garuntee so why not get a verdict of problem from an independant builder and if associated with the garunteed work then tell them ?
are you sure that extension is victorian ? most of that kind were done in the 50s/60s +
No he went up to have a look when it was done in February by a registered company who said it would definitely fix this problem. First they did the flashing round the chimney then, when that didn't work, they pointed and capped the parapet wall and chimney. The company we had here in October said they couldn't see anything wrong with the flashing or anything else the first lot had done. The chimney is not level with the coping stones nor would taking any extra courses off ever bring it level, as the parapet wall was built afterwards. The coping stones (if I remember rightly because I can't go outside to check as it's dark) are the ones which are higher in the middle to spill the water. Like this: http://www.grosvenorstone.co.uk/TW15%20coping%20stone%202.jpg
I'm certain that the back part is original. All the Victorian houses round here in terraces are like it. It's all visible on the 1909 maps of the area.
We've asked the October firm to come and re-assess, but DH has been in the loft today and is more in agreement now with me that it's penetrating damp. So he's making some enquiries along those lines. Hopefully we'll get somewhere before the water dripping down the walls gets near the electrics :rotfl:"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0
