Aye, January 15th, We have noticed less dark not get light days this Winter even though the weather has been incredibly wet even for us. Weirdly the house seems to get more light so that will be a good thing.
Our water supply is our own so we only had to fiddle with the blue plastic pipe & MR Choille did the connections - being a man................0 -
Hi Dave, I do the Harcombe diet. I have fallen off the wagon at Christmas but I'm getting right back on there. The diet may not appeal to everyone but I've found it works for me. I've lost 2 stone (still got plenty to go) and it has been quite easy.

did you see that program on so called healthy food diets etc...
all this low colesterol stuff and no fat stuff all has replacement stuffs that stuff up your body basically. the body cant break down these additives and actually adds fat which builds up to cover these alien stuffs.
im sure there is a far more technical way of saying that but thats mine
in other words.... it dont ALWAYS do wot it says on the tin ....0 -
Alex... I am really confused now... the first company is registered with the federation of builders yes? is this what you mean by registered? why didn't you go back to then in October, why use another company?
Also if it is only a single brick wall/building then you are always going to have problems..
Did you ask the neighbour for permission so you/builder can go on their land so they can take a better look at that wall etc??Work to live= not live to work0 -
Got someone coming over on Thursday to have a chat etc about the front fascia and guttering, Now I thought white, but they suggested black?? as they said it will be going green within weeks of going up, and will need cleaning all the time..
Don't you just love it when people confuse you...lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Can I make another suggestion?
Dark Grey.
There is a f and b colour called downpipe we used on our guttering and stuff , till we found there was a bog standard one in the DIY sheds the exact same shade for metal work (passed inspection ...we had to pass a colour inspection on the f and b colour or black). Its just......invisible now. Like a subtle definition not a great big straight line on a slightly wonky building. You could get this grey pretty easily in a standard colour range as I found!! I think it would look nice against the blue tone of your house and not push you to make a decision about windows or anything else now, because it would be a match to the house, not anything else you do. I'd do grey fascia and black guttering (presuming plastic)
I definitelY think black otherwise.
. Edit, I also found out recently there is a plastic cast iron look guttering. Don't know how much more it is.
I reckon guttering you'll lose visually anyway, Are you planning on growing anything on the cottage or now you've started such an excellent renovation is the idea of covering it up abhorrent?0 -

so black it is then,
do you know roughly how much the 'victorian' style guttering is compared to the normal one??
I so appreciate you helping me your opinions, ideas and advice... The thing is I know what I want the place to look like, BUT I know this sounds silly but now its time to start making 'proper' decisions on the place, I am getting nervous and dougting my decisions lolWork to live= not live to work0 -
CTC - the ranch house is looking pretty damn good (reading to catch up).
I'm not progressing at all, but until the roof is done & the cladding it's a damp house shell - the waters been pouring in - it's so depressing.0
