  • I just woke up to the news... even though we knew it was coming, it is still sad.... I feel also the media will bring out/broadcast/print about all the scwobbling sp???? that has/is going on with his immediate family. which is such a shame.. to the memory of the guy..

we ordered and picked up dressed stone yesterday to re-do/repair above the windows, and to replace some of the stone on the pine end... The stone mason is going great guns, as he was saying he doesn't know when he will have to stop yet on the outside, but he can carry on with the inside work for a week or two after that...

We are doing the windows ourselves now to save money, PLUS the window people did not come back to us with a price... don't people want work??? even if it was going to be a one or two windows at a time??

Think I need to get a carpenter in soon, to gave us his opinion and price on the floor/ceiling joists etc...so I can start saving... and to see if one side of the house can be done first.. ( kitchen and possible exposed bedroom ceiling side Alfie) Also by having one side water tight and structurally sound, we can potentially stay in there for the odd night or two..

we ordered and picked up dressed stone yesterday

Does it come in a dinner suit or something more casual :rotfl:

It is freezing today  and after another long slow walk to the post office I am sitting having a cuppa trying to defrost.

The next few weeks I may not be posting as often as normal as I am crazy busy but I will keep reading and in two weeks time I will have all the time in the world until the little one arrives so steel yourselves for boring daily updates on how many cups of tea I have made :rotfl:

My bird feeder arrived today so the research will commence later today :D

Slowly unpacking boxes and Mr BD is sugar soaping the ceilings atm to try and get rid of some of the cigarette odour. Burning a lavender candle in the living room has helped a bit.

Had check out at the rental yesterday and we are getting all our deposit back :j:j:j

Not so easy to keep this house warm but have had some oil delivered today which should last us the winter.

Animals have settled in well and are also exhausted by the move

Old dog takes a dim view of the young cat snuggling up but he is impervious to her dark looks of disapproval.

The mark you can see at the top of his hind leg is where he had 19 staples in a T shaped wound where our other dog nipped him as he was running past, her tooth caught in the skin and ripped a large wound down to the second dark mark.

The other cat is hidden away somewhere - yesterday he spent most of the day behind the kitchen cupboards refusing to grace us with his presence. Today he has knocked over a reed diffuser which has stripped off the paint off the windowsill. Well, we were going to do it anyway......

Keep warm and hope you didn't have any damage from the howling winds yesterday.

It took ages to get light here this morning, which I thought was a bit odd.

Bit its only JUST NOW dark. Its been dark here a full twenty minutes earlier at least. I think the world has had a nudge.

I will be induced in 7 weeks time so hopefully I will not have to have the nightmare of getting to the hospital in labour in the snow. Finishing work at Christmas so I all be able to relax and plan various things till my little heart is content :rotfl:

BTW LIR - just googling for some info about the boiler in this house - it is an ancient Camray 2 and I see from an old MSE post that you have/had one. I have set it at 80 degrees as per the manual as it is winter (although that does seem high even for me!), but how do you regulate the water temperature? :o

Even had a little sun this morning but soon clouded over and it's bloomin' cold. But no snow yet Rummer - but we are 'southern softies' (as Mr BD from Yorkshire likes to call us) down here :D I love my Craghoppers winter lined trousers which I bought in the sales last winter, they are great for helping to keep me warm when I am pottering around the house. When they are in the wash I wear a pair of ski trousers ;) (well not only a pair of ski trousers I hasten to add :D)
