off to make another cuppa, as the last one didn't touch the sides...lol
Our forecast said 8 miles an hour. We got considerably more, , but not for that long, a few hours. Typically, died down just about half an hour or so after I d decided to move horses for the night, and didn't pick up till.....I dunno, late morning?0 -
It's been blustery here, but we've had much worse and the temperature is only now going below 10c. No rain.
Anyway, job done as regards fencing off the mini woodland and stream garden.

It's attached......we'd need to get an engineer out to start the process, then a builder, because will leave is with a hole in the roof. So couldn't do it this weekend.
We are 'hoping' it fits through the door frame (that's why I still have no back door......just a hole. But I will double, double check tomorrow, measure everything twice.0 -
Hi guys! Freezing here too. The builders are plodding along, but making good enough progress. I am so used to being cold now that it barely credits a mention. I think we've just got tougher too. I always wear my coat indoors and thermals

I'm trying to normalise my life so I've been going to the gym and went round to the neighbours today to chew the fat for the morning. I've spent the last 18 months trying to progress the build and survive with the children and now they're at school a good few hours a week, I've managed to get on top of my admin I am forging a life for me - too.
I really feel there is light at the end of the tunnel

Sad to hear the news tonight about Nelson Mandela's passing, although not unexpected, I do feel for his family, and the fact that people are already squabbling about his legacy in Discussion Time.:(Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

In spring, when the Old Girl here died, ( a legend in her own way....a ) it was sad...but honestly...I felt relief.
I hope those who have been caring for him in his Long decline rest easy for a while, are treated well, and likewise those close to him.
Sometimes, whoever the person, whatever the legacy, the passing brings relief as well as sadness.0 -
I first saw mention of the Trans-Pacific Partnership on a little known esoteric type blog of this...but its now been leaked widely and Avaaz has a petition up and running for people to sign.
Various countries are secretly discussing setting up the TPP and it would allow new global tribunals to sue our Governments for passing laws that protect us. Very widespread effects would ensue from these huge multinational companies being able to manipulate countries' laws to suit themselves. Monsanto are already looking to use this to stop GM products being labelled.
Can anyone do the link to the Avaaz petition on this that will come up if googling for "Before Monsanto uncorks the champagne"?
There are only hours left to stop this TPP.
EDIT: lots of people are signing. Something seems to have gone wrong with the signature counter this morning, but early evening yesterday it wasn't far short of 800,000 signatures to date. They are aiming for a million signatures.0
