:eek: That looks like a recipe for wearing me out completely! :rotfl:
I'm just grateful I'm not still doing my old job after the news today. Many years ago, when the politicians first began poking their noses into education, I feared the worst. By the time I finished, it was obvious that things were seriously awry. I've lost count of the further 'initiatives' since then, but clearly we're where we are with the help of those as well.
Time for the politicians to take ownership of the monster they've created, I think!0 -

DH is, ( though doesn't use it) I'll try and sort it to friend you or whatever it is.....
I have to say that if you have a query about some obscure gardening or poultry issue and you are on the right group pages, you get an reply in moments. It's great for that. And for networking to get obscure hatching eggs and suchlike! Big time waster too, though....0 -
any way i have enviro man back on the 13th  [friday] he wants to go through every thing. [he wants blood....:o ]
my concern is that my water pipe will freezei was asked to take lots of pics which ive done.
right after reading that lot, i bet you wish you had kept quiet...;) :rotfl::rotfl:
Poor Bimble!
No, this sort of detail is important for anyone reading who thinks that they might be laying water pipes in their Daydream Garden one day. I wish the people who'd laid mine had read up on it a bit!
As we seemed to hit the village water main at 60cm (2 feet) that may be a minimum for vital supplies, though I'm sure it's still a bit shallow. Most of the time you'll get away with 12" but not in a winter like 2009/10. Not much consolation for you, but if the water stops, your house is uninhabitable and your LL has to give you alternative accommodation till its fixed, so Mr Pratt is doing no one favours.
I said the EA would be on the case like terriers.
EDIT: Pete has just dropped off a whole lamb for the freezer. :DWe always found his pork a bit on the fatty side, but the lamb is very lean and tasty. I am seeing sheep in a new light.0 -
hello peeps
i have been absent to save YOUR sanity...:p
i think if i moaned/reported any more re my water i had an image of "lemmings" :rotfl::rotfl:
gist is the job is done BUT corners were cut, lies were told and my temper rose !!
water board man came to check work yesterday [the only 20 minutes i wasnt here !] BUT he rang me an hour later.
mr pratt claimed water man was VERY pleased with work so far BUT when i spoke to WM he said hed told them the long run was ok but the 10ft from /to the house [other drainage system there] had to be at least 2ft 6" deep OR he had to insulate the pipe ... and it had to be a distance below sewerage pipe........ NOPE  i spoke to young apprentice [poor sod] when mr pratt wasnt there and bless him , he told me they hadnt dug deeper OR insulated it !! its all buried now but....;)
best bit was where there was 3 paving slabs [near back door path where i cross carrying heavy fuel containers]. mr p just left mud there and when i asked for slabs back ? he said they were broken.. so i said well, you have to make good and i want a solid path. when i got back today he,s shoved a barrow of chunky stones on it !! twisted ankle territory !
the only good report is that the digger driver to trench for new soak away for cess pit is a friend of postie and he did a good job[i will get postie to ask that soak away pipe was put in correctly
as i wasnt here]
the sort of funny bit is ,this morning bimble was running across the garden and i called him and for once he went to return immediatly and in his haste disapeared down the 5ft deep trench .... i ran over and in the bottom was a mud monster !! he was black...:rotfl: he looked at me with a "whoops" face..
i had to lay down, lean over [ digger driver kept hold of me ] and grab his collar and hoik him out...:rotfl: he got hosed down and looked very sheepish..:D

They are not working for me either in Internet Explorer since they 'improved' it to version 11. Try copy and paste. They work then.
MY IE wasn't letting me download anything at all after the 'upgrade,' until I reset the defaults.
If it ain't broke......
Anyway, I've been using Firefox too.
EDIT: And IE is giving me double spaces for my paragraphs too..... Garbage!
PS. Nice sunsets Maggie. :A None here. Dank and dreary.0 -

Alfie, isn't there an Ofcom type thing for tenants? Well worth speaking to them too, to jump on board, I think in this situation the more ( involved) the merrier lol..
Davesave has a good point about you pointing out what the water board has advised on the depth of the pipes outside... as you know we have problem with how water supply pipes going to the ranch.. the pipe isn't even buried in places.Work to live= not live to work0 -
Rain.
I was just thinking last night....' Well, iPad least its mild and dry'.......so its going to be wet, prepare for the cold.

Just a flying visit
Hope you are all ok although from a very brief skim I see poor alfie is still struggling with her 'water works'. Lovely sunsets maggie.
Moved into new house on Monday - what a relief. The road that the removal men used was closed for hours on Monday afternoon after a lorry drove into a bridge, but luckily they got through just before the accident.
But the new house is filthy and stinking of cigarette smoke. Had a shower and there was yellow water running down the tiles from the nicotine condensation. Poor Mr BD has been washing down the walls trying to get rid of the smoke smell or at least reduce it. Living room is worst - two walls of wallpaper which reek despite washing. We are going to try mopping it with vinegar water.
Exhausted from trying finish end of tenancy clean at the old house. Got a replacement cleaner (my usual cleaner couldn't make it) who was useless, she wiped rather than cleaned. Even Mr BD noticed how little she did. And it appears that the professional carpet cleaner has shrunk the carpets
But we are in at the new house, and I am enjoying the quiet village, no light pollution at night and a bigger house. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
