Right off to have a nice cuppa, and some porridge and get ready for the royal welsh winter show... 'heaven' will try and remember to take a camera
Saw the coverage on the news tonight, looked out for you but missed your stand. Hope it's all going well.
Here its not really cyber Monday, but it was certainly cyber Sunday yesterday :j.
Everyone stretched atm, SIL's father is very ill, DD1 trying to hold down two jobs, DD2 changing jobs, DS2 having serious health issues, DW off at a funeral and needing to make long journeys several times a month. A nice uneventful period is much needed0 -
Rhiwie, didn't have a stand at the winter show, as its really hard to get a stand at this one, Went up just to have a day off etc... BUT I am going to try and get my name down for a stand next year though..
I must admit from a small holder point of view, I was a bit disappointed, the spring show in may is much better for what we want... So by dinner time we had left, and went to Brecon to have a look around, the only things we bought, was a bottle of Danzy Jones ( a smooth welsh version of jack daniels) and one of those preppers flint fire starter things, I can get a spark, but not a fire, yet...lol
Rozee, I think the spring show would be good for you to go to, no way as busy as the main royal welsh show, and not as big, but a good family day outWork to live= not live to work0 -
Off on a completely different tangent, I took the dog for a walk today and came across two trees that were completely bare apart from blossom, small pinkish white blossom!
Anyone got any idea what they are? Most of the trees on the estate here are rowans, but oh, blossom in November, how lovely, no scent unfotunately. I'll take a pic tomorrow if I remember.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -

Probably one of the winter flowering prunus, like this one:

In the West Country we also have our own more controversial, twice-flowering hawthorn....;)

Speaking of trees, I was doing a bit of a count-up today to see how many types we will have here in the spring. It's over 40, without going into species variations, but some things I call 'trees,' like holly, others may call 'shrubs.'
I have decided to give Mr Dog's boundary Western Red Cedar rather than leylandii, because if he moves, we can reduce the height of the WRS more successfully, as it regenerates from old wood.0 -

A recently moved in neighbour will be taking out some hugely overgrown leylandii/other conifers that line his boundary :j:j:j
It will add so much light to his property but will also stop shading of our property in low winter sunlight.0 -

It does look very similar to the one in that BBC link, only slightly more divided petals and no scent that I could smell. Didn't one of the Glastonbury thorns meet an untimely end recently? Until we moved, we used to be able to get BBC West, Ian Ferguson is a far better weatherman than Derek what's'isface (grabs body armour, tin helmet and runs).Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

We just holler up the stairs :rotfl:
That's what I've always tended to do too Rummer, but DH hates shouting.....I think he thinks I sound like a fishwife, lol
Also, we tend to buy these stupidly rambling houses with either a) lots of storeys/mezzanines and/or b) studies (where DH spends his working day/evening) furthest away from the kitchen :rotfl: Think I'll have to get an intercom fitted or else teach the resident pets to carry messages strapped to their legs like carrier pigeonsMortgage-free for fourteen years!

rhiwie... have asked if you can have first 'dabs' on the trees???
Its skits a bit when burning, BUT it smells lovely ( well the huge one we cut down up the ranch does)
Think I need to do one last push this week, with listing stuff on the bay... I think it will be a mix of Buy it now, and auction style...
Thanks for the offer Rozee, Aber Students Union has returned my email... so will see what we can do there, need to get on to Cardiff etc, to see what we can do next year with them too, As next march we would have had the ranch 2 years!!!! so going into the 3rd year we really do need to get a major push on the house, even though people keep saying 'the house is looking good' etc, yes it does, BUT in reality, it is only a tiny amount of what really needs doing...
LIR I haven't got a clue with electrics, even though My Bro and other family members are electricians etc, but I think with everything, it is better for the spec to be to much/big for what you want, so you are not pushing it too hard, hope that made sense....
They have given it really cold this weekend, and wintery??? don't know if that means snow for us? but really wanted to go up the ranch and start doing a bit of a clear up with the trees..Work to live= not live to work0 -
I think I'm going to ask DH to call alf for me today ( I would but for dodgy head). I miss her:(. I want to know what's going on with her water and that she's ok.0
