It's only 3c here, but the visibility is OK; certainly good enough to do what we're doing.

Pond is now filled-in and we are trailering soil up to level the corner by Mr Dog. Any surplus will be spread in the new copse area to leave us 'hump-free.'
  • wb Maggie :j :hello: I hate winter, too. I really should live somewhere with less of it.

That's a big blaze, rhiw. There are always more fires around at this time of year but it certainly doesn't help when the pyromaniacs join in
There was a big blaze near Barney over the weekend, too. Arson.

It was 4 in Barney today (shopping again :( - not my favourite pastime) but we're a whole couple of degrees warmer here. :T Not that it feels much different :rotfl:

I know what you mean abut the tall chimneys, alfie. I worry more about the high winds, though.
Mind you, I think by the time the fire engine got round our little lanes & then discovered they'd have to pump from the river down the lane that it wouldn't be worth their coming out _pale_
I was quoted £600 a couple of years back for scaffolding to get up to replace some slates behind the big inglenook chimney. There's then another 10ft or so of chimney above that. I politely declined. :rotfl::rotfl:

Alex - My old Kenwood has been going donkeys years, too. Like Stitch, I have no idea which model it is :o

LIR - Running a business would be fine if it wasn't for the customers, eh? :D

Hmmm, second major fire in a month at Llandow.

Smoke is not over us atm, looks to be going over St Athan and Rhoose, pity the poor people downwind, as well as the fire and rescue services.

    Deliberate?

I hadn't picked up on the fact that there were two fires in a month at different premises of one company until you mentioned it. Yes, it is suspicious, either their elf & safety is badly lacking, or...

CTC, we are a few miles north of Newport in the eastern valley, I seem to remember you asking ages ago and very rudely I didn't answer. Smacked wrists for me!

When anyone on here mentions Barney, I always think of Barnard Castle, where my cousins used to live, I'm guessing it's not the place you mean though, itsmehonest!
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

We both have tummies full of Welsh Lamb (boned shoulder) and mint sauce... :j Served up with roasted potatoes, celery, carrots and peas with gravy made from yesterday's leftover onion gravy and the meat juices. Yum! The caravan is toasty warm after having the oven on for a long slow cook. :j

OH has tidied up the patio ready for winter, but we still haven't tackled the buddleia... Might stay on till weekend, not sure yet. Kitchen fitter has messed us around for so long I'm not bothered about going home just for that. Actually ventured outside for the first time today since we got here. We have some hydrangeas by the shed that are absolutely amazing colours - will take photos tomorrow hopefully. Might take some of the flowers home and dry them off... If there's space in the car of course!

Thanks for the welcomes back! :)

@alfie, can't believe your saga is still going on! But I'm sure you'll get there in the end and nasty bloke will have to eat s**t! ;) Sounds as if there's at least some possible movement happening even if water board have intervene more to fix it? Good luck! :)

Oh I am so :mad::mad:! Npower were due to give me my bill and direct debit review in November and due to their computer systems they have told me it will not be happening until MAY!! Over a year since my last bill!!!

I submit monthly readings and have worked really hard to get our consumption down so I was expecting a reasonable deduction in my DD and now they refuse to even bill me!!

    Alfie
At least the water person sounds sufficiently riled now. Why can people just not do what they are supposed to??

Today has just been one long irritation and I think I will have a long bath with a good book to read and pretend everything is sunshine and roses :D

No, MrsAtobe, not Barnard Castle. This 'Barney Rubble' is down where the Devon dumplings come from :D

Dear, oh dear, alfie. Did the water board manager say what they'd do next?

The utility companies seem to go out of their way to make life awkward, Rummer. I'm sure that you could probably raise merry hell with the Ombudsman if you wanted to. They are meant to read & bill regularly. Ours only gets out here once a year (the rest being estimates unless we ring in) & I'm sure I read somewhere that that's against their rules.
Can they actually refuse to bill you? I'd be surprised.

Here is a picture of the hump, half of which we inherited and half which we made ourselves, removing other humps. grinning-smiley-006.gif It doesn't look much until you consider the size of the vehicles, which are well behind it.

Anyway, you can maybe see why I want to plant trees in this area, especially as those vehicles have become a permanent feature, none of them having moved a centimetre in months....

I am having problems posting. Smilies don't work for me unless I copy & paste. I also had to re-format that last post as the first try had huge gaps.

Of course this would have nothing to do with me finding that Microsoft were installing IE 11 this morning, without asking me what I wanted....:(

The answer might soon be Firefox!

Humps are handy to plant trees on to screen out things like...........neighbours. You get years of growth screening with humps with out years of waiting for the trees to grow. I've made humps, yours just looks as if you're mass murderer!:eek::eek:
