So sorry for my hissy fit a few weeks ago. :o I think both OH and myself were feeling rather under the weather, plus I really hate this time of year. I hate the early darkness and the lowering skies, suspect there's a touch of SAD going on too. And there's the stress of the C*******s business coming up soon too!

We did finally manage to get all the onions and garlic planted at the lottie before the first frost, just! :o Currently at the caravan with the CH on 24 hours a day, despite the forecast promising sun for at least 2 days we've barely seen it here in Bwlchtocyn, but had some nice views of Snowdon wearing a white cap. :) Tomorrow we must tidy up the patio and prune the overgrown buddleia and make sure all is safely secured against winter winds. Then it's call the plumber to come and shut down everything for the winter and we'll be back home prob on Wed as we should have kitchen fitter coming to replace under the counter bin that was faulty (you couldn't open the door to it!).

Bit gloom and doom here as the TV has just given up the ghost, so we're reduced to watching it on computer (not ideal as it's a bit jumpy and outta sync) or Kindle Fire (not a very big screen). Fingers crossed we can find the receipt when we get home as I think it's still under guarantee. Nevermind, local butcher's savoury sausages coming up with mash and onion gravy, so that should cheer us up a bit!
  • DB as a general cleaner I use Star drops,

Its brilliant, and you only use a tiny bit.

I have used this shop just to show you what it looks like, but you can buy it in Home bargains, and some supermarkets...

In theory you don't need any other cleaner...

Star drops is a real love or hate product. I think its cleaning power is good, but I cannot stand the smell.:o.(it dries fine).

Gonna be cold and foggy here tomorrow so I am cancelling my morning plans. Sigh.

Those evening the kiwi seemed to have found in the front border, but he was barking not killing, so I went u to see what the fuss was about and he had suddenlY taken against my little dragon statue . I wonder why? And I hope the rats don't smell as big as that, its the size of a badger!

    Glad you're back, Maggie :hello:

I know what you mean about the time of year, and I'm still being surprised by the early dark, but since we came to live in the country, I've minded winter much less.

I think previous feelings were partly to do with the lack of sunlight, and partly because the naff weather was just a huge, boring inconvenience.

Now, we see more of whatever sunshine there is, and there are so many things that winter allows us the time to do. I wouldn't say I look forward to it, but I won't be fed up with it until about the end of February! :)

We've been quite lucky this side of winter I think. I only hope we don't make up for it on the other side!

I love winter and the early dark nights as it is a great excuse to build a nest on the couch and watch bad TV, read, crochet and stay all snuggly warm :D It is also the perfect time for making home improvements as there is little temptation to leave the house. That said I do try to get outside so that I can get some sunlight.

    Evening all.

Well, I had been dithering about a steam cleaner for ages so Itismehonest you have given me the shove I needed and I have bought one with 'double' Tesco vouchers so it has actually cost me nothing:cool: So thank you IMH :D:D

ukmaggie45 I think I must have missed your 'hissy fit' :rotfl:but we all have our off days, so welcome back :T and hope things improve for you soon. I'm no fan of C******* either. My MIL passed away suddenly just before Xmas about 10 years ago and then in 2009 my Dad did too.

CTC I've never tried Star Drops but I do seem to remember people raving about them on the OS board. Do they sell them in Tesco's do you know?

Oh alfie now it is nearly December don't you think you deserve to stack up the fire so the house isn't so cold? Cold for some people can really drain energy levels and lower the immune system. Sounds like you could do with a battery powered electric blanket to keep you toasty.

So looking forward to trying out the Square Foot Gardening as very kindly sent to me by Alexelisey. I haven't been on top of all the posts recently, but I don't recall seeing any posts from Alexelisey. I hope all is OK.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
