Thanks Davesanave for the heads up:beer:

so possibly the super strength round up we got 'might' be one of those products that the EU want to ban????

as this is really doing its job on the knotweed

Not sure on that. The readymix will still be available, as will the concentrate, but at what level of strength and in what quantities I can't say. :(

Grazon is what I use, rozee, but not to cover 4 acres with a knapsack! I only treat the worst areas of buttercup, and even then I don't expect 100% success. Mostly, I spot kill on dock and thistle.

If you are serious about improving the pasture, you could go for total kill followed by liming and re-seeding with a modern mixture, but that won't tackle underlying problems with drainage, of course.

You need to decide who is going to benefit from the improvement and whether doing it now fits with your plans. I concluded that our fields benefit Pete more than us, so there is no way we'd improve the ley beyond what it is now at our own expense. Pete threw £200 worth of fertilizer at it this spring and he reckons the hay is good for his cattle, so we are all happy at present. :)
It's all about timing, eh? I think we would go down the total kill route, but our finances don't really permit such frolics this year :o What will happen to the field if we just left it this year?

I am hooked on chicks, CTC! I'm already planning on a few Cream Legbars at the next sale.... For some reason, everytime I see the frizzle, it reminds me of alfie!

LIR, I feel for you .Hope all goes well.

Trying to drink a cuppa, with hald my mouth numb:rotfl::rotfl:

Bought a lovely pot of pinks today, no flowers on it, which I wanted, as tomorrow I am going to propagate it to an inch of its life:rotfl:

Been looking at my out of control Honeysuckle, which some of the stems have roots on, so I can chopped them off the plant, and potted them. Cut the stem/tops off them to promote the root growth, think I have done that right???

Think it might be the wrong time to try propagating my clemantis?? its a montana.

I am trying to slowly get some stock ready for next year, a few pots here and there, will soon mount up.

Need to find some sedums etc, as they are brilliant for pot and forget:cool::D

Need your wisdom, guys. Took a hard look at the field. It's basically 95% creeping butterfly. Ahem. ButterFLY. No, it's BUTTERCUP! (I hate this Kindle!) Can I realistically deal with 4 acres of creeping buttercup without chemicals, or do I bite the bullet and spray? Is there an organic solution?

I will bring my Fiskars gadget and we can rip them out together :D It should only take us a few months :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just spent the weekend looking after my mum. It makes me realise how much hard work it is.

Finds sound good, Alfie. I do love a nice bedspread.

But you'd have created an ideal seed bed for dormant buttercup seeds to germinate :(
