    Lir!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Rozee, I cant think of any method of physical contraol on so large a patch. This thread suggests grazon. Hope you're feeling better soon and fast asleep at 5.43am!!

Netted strawbs (no gaps) have seen whole ripe strawbs just disappear. Mice? Children??!!

Lifted first of the first earlies, quite a bit of slug damage though :(

Morning, and what a lovely day it is!:j

Alfie, good news on the ferret, strangely someone I know lost a lamb to a suspected adder bite last week, didn't think they were fussed with people/animals? :(

Do you have other ferrets already? We started with one then rescued two more and three are definitely more fun to watch. We got ours when we lived in a rented flat and weren't allowed pets, they lived in a hutch in a tiny back yard which we hid with a motorbike cover when we had the agents checking up on us!

But they spent all their time indoors when we were home, the best pets ever, good times, OMG that was ten-eleven years ago. We have three again now, OH wants enough to have a ferret racing team one day!

CTC I couldn't get to the sale Saturday, nothing I really wanted/needed and so busy trying to get jobs done here. Moving pigs is challenging and we are trying lots of different ways to attack this problem.

I am also collecting a boar today and a few of his offspring, he's an Iron Age, I've made a pen mega secure for him, don't need him running loose in search of the laydees, bad enough when the little ones go galavanting:eek:

Right, must get ready for my epic journey to Devon....

Davesnave, so peeps are saying that even though the horsetail dies back, it might come back ???

If it comes back, then I will def buy that stuff you mentioned.

Rozee, thats it you are hooked on chickens:rotfl::rotfl:

yesturday, I suggested to Hubby we put this place into auction next year, and live up the Ranch.. Told him how much we would save IF it sold for half of what we owe on it etc, soooo going to have a 'general' type chat with the mortgage lenders to give them the sinario, if we sold this place, any money still outstanding could we then put it on the Ranch..

Told the youngest what we were thinking, and he pulled a hissy fit, but as we told him, he uses the caravan nearly every day, with his girlfriend and his mates as a doss pad anyway.. Think he will come around by next year..

Got The dentist this morning:o to finish off that root filling, and other work, I could think of better excuses to have a day off work:rotfl::rotfl:

EDIT.... Rhiwie.... those boots went for £70!!!!! pitty I couldnt get a few of them in a week

    I've been Money Tipped!
We did weeding yesterday. It's that time of year when we start thinking about emptying the lagoon again...but wondering if we should, or will it be warm enough in July and p wights to swim?

I'm tied to the house, in fact upstairs, today as I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow and I have to start taking the kind of laxatives that supposedly could fill a slurry lagoon from the average human. I'm a little nervous!

Grazon is what I use, rozee, but not to cover 4 acres with a knapsack! I only treat the worst areas of buttercup, and even then I don't expect 100% success. Mostly, I spot kill on dock and thistle.

If you are serious about improving the pasture, you could go for total kill followed by liming and re-seeding with a modern mixture, but that won't tackle underlying problems with drainage, of course.

You need to decide who is going to benefit from the improvement and whether doing it now fits with your plans. I concluded that our fields benefit Pete more than us, so there is no way we'd improve the ley beyond what it is now at our own expense. Pete threw £200 worth of fertilizer at it this spring and he reckons the hay is good for his cattle, so we are all happy at present. :)

Davesnave, so peeps are saying that even though the horsetail dies back, it might come back ???

Well if it was easy to kill with something like a strong glyphosate, there wouldn't be a market for Kurtail!

It's like bracken; you can knock it back with standard weedkiller, but if you want more control, Asulox is the way to go, though the EU are doing their best to have it withdrawn. That should pleas choille and itsme! ;)

As a general heads up, obtaining any professional weedkiller after 2014 may be difficult as the rules are being tightened. I intend to stockpile, because even though I have attended a 10 day course in the storage and use of hazardous chemicals (all on full pay at taxpayer's expense!:p) I don't think my certificate will be of any help to me. :(

I don't know what the hell people like Pete will do....well actually I do.....they will know someone who can procure the goods! :rotfl:

Thanks Davesanave for the heads up:beer:

so possibly the super strength round up we got 'might' be one of those products that the EU want to ban????

as this is really doing its job on the knotweed

    morning all....

today is clear out day !! i am determined to sort stuff to sell from stuff i want to keep :o

ive decided to advertise a sale of it all here [glorified garage sale] ..its amazing what id stashed away... so in 2 weeks time im having a mega sale.

so if anyone is after anything let me know :D before i dispatch ...

i have more lamps than blackpool... from oil lamps to retro long arm lamps.

yesterday i drove to sussex to pick up an old french metal day bed for my friend. what started off as a "do you want to come for the ride" to my mum ended as a massive long haul..:eek:
was near gatwick and consisted of rally driving up lanes that a bicycle would struggle with !! but when i got to this place...WOW... my idea of heaven. [wish id taken camera !] 13 sheds all designed with quirky elements. the guy had recycled everything known to man. the paths were amazing....slates, wood, pebbles,bricks...you name it. roofs were straw, wood slates, rushes,grass,flowers... the cottage was same. a lean too greenhouse with a huge grape vine hanging on the inside with fairy lights amongst it and huge planks of wood on tressles as a table. so simple and stunning ! they made mum and i a cuppa and biskwits and over an hour later we left... :D
we were talking about it all the way home ! and my mum hates clutter normally but she loved it !
i am full of ideas now for my garden and jazzing up my sheds...;)

anyway, if im up CTC's way do you want this ferret , FK ?? its friendly [full boy] but i cant do with it what it needs.

well done on the boots CTC :D

im actually in shorts today to try and improve the sparkling glow of white my legs presently show :o

LIR.... this is when your pelvic exercises come into play...;)

to every one else out there, have a good day and hope the sun is shining for you all too.:):)

rozee.... well done on the chook front.:D

im sure iv forgotten to comment on other info...apologies :o
