Davesnave... Sorry but I did have a giggle reading your post, read it like it was a carry on film:cool::p

There was also a stunning lot of wellsummers, BUT there was 4 in the lot, and they went for £20 each, and I couldn't afford them after buying the turkeys and the cochins.

Reading about wellsommers etc with Davesnave, think I will get some, for egg selling, might even get some blue egg layers too, so I can do packs of 'rainbow' 'multicolour' eggs etc...

It wasn't quite a Carry On, but it's the sort of thing that happens when you have a common name. DD's first name is fairly uncommon and out of fashion, though....:(

The chap sitting next to me said his wife was graduating in DD's group. As he looked older than me, I began to wonder!!! :eek:Turned out she'd done the degree part-time over 5 years, to finally receive it aged 63. :rotfl:

Congratulations on the Cochins, which look fun. I'd worry about the feathered legs in a winter like the one we've just had. I suppose it depends where they're kept. Our new swamp free chicken area is now grassed-over, but it will be at least a year before we'll have it sorted for the birds.

I think your advisors are right, lir. There is nothing wrong with the technology, just the people you had installing. Now't wrong with your roses either! :)

A ferret, Alfie, what fun... :jbut will it and Bimble get on? Now that she has a man, DD has gone quiet on having more ferrets. I've a feeling their new pad won't be suitable either.

Def the cochins will be in a undercover, wooden floored run. BUT on nice fine dry days they can go out.

Hubby and youngest just come in from going to see some bands in town... so They woke me up, chatted, and now I am wide awake:o

The mist has come down tonight, and it is very humid, feels as though we could do with a storm, or a good down pour to clear the air..

The young lad I got doing ebay, has made a few ballsup, and the latest one is put the wrong address labels on the parcels, so peeps have the wrong items:o, and with the other boob he done I could potentially get 3 negs, and out of pocket on these 3 items to keep the buyers happy. by refunding them completely with return postage too, and sending them the right item, when it is returned.

SOOOOO on Monday he will have a strong talking too, and will be told if anything else goes wrong, then he will have to go, which is a pity he is a great lad.

Rhiwie hope you are having a nice time away..

I really do need to get back to being organised, and on top of things...

Davesnave it looks as though our super strength does kill the horsetail:T BUT it is slow, we done a patch in the garden in general, and it killed most of them, but missed some, so it could be the spray missed them..

There is a huge amount of them under our black currents, :o soooo if we need to sacrifies our black currents, so be it if it means getting rid of the stuff.

think it is a cuppa tea time:p

You don't need to sacrifice blackcurrants. If you can lift and cut back much of the top growth, they'll come back, although you'll miss out on fruit for a year.

The strong glypho may not do the job completely first time, even if it looks like it will. Just quoting from others' experience, as I have none of my own. :o

Welsummers do lay big, dark eggs, but I find ours dull birds with little personality. I'm secretly hoping the Marans will take over their role, if they're not all cockerels! :rotfl:

My stream garden is just a damp ditch now and the overhanging canopy of trees needs cutting back again, so that's where I'm off next.

Yesterday I got 22 sweet peppers into one of the deep beds in the poly. :D Looks like I'll have to pot-on the remaining 25 or so!

Oh, and we have a small infestation of carpet moths. Knew I was skimping on the cleaning! Perhaps somebody knows someone? ! :o:o:o :rotfl::D:p

    :(

Our daughter in London has moth problems, :( she gets some bio control. It attracts them and then kills, think it's pheromone based. Next time I see her I'll try and remember to ask what it's called. Though you can prob find it on t'interweb thingy. ;):o:)

Ah, they think they're going to have a good time ;), so pretty humane, eh? :D

I was thinking more in terms of some hideous chemical napalm; literally carpet bombing! :rotfl:

I'm exhausted! Just removed huge quantities of tree overhanging the stream, as my planting there wasn't looking very happy. Don't worry, no nesting birds, as only hazel involved. I will have to tackle the wytch elm and associated ivy in the winter.

Speaking of nesting birds, the swallows in the workshop have successfully hatched eggs this year.:) The first year they didn't complete their nest, the second year they finished it and laid eggs, but the feral cat had the whole thing down. This year they chose a more sensible place. I think it's the same pair because they have nested low again.

Hello folks. I haven't posted for over a week. Last week was hellish (Kindle 's spell check just turned that to "shellfish"!) as the children took it in turns to be sick (and therefore unable to go to childcare) and then gave me their lurgy. I still don't feel right. It has a massive impact on everything as I have such meagre childcare anyway that if that gets knocked out I can't do anything that is organisational. I was starting to get on top of the paperwork and saving money sourcing cheaper suppliers for the build.

The good news is we got chicks. These are definitely pets! Two ten week old bandstand. Eh? Bantams! (Perhaps I should just give Kindle free rein on the autocorrect for a laugh?) They are sweet little things and oh so tame. One drizzle (...frizzle) and one smooth. Named Lego and Polly Pocket (by the children). Batman's collected Wednesday. By the next sale, I'll have another coop ready and be practical and pick up some Cream Legbars I think.

If I wanted really high quality exhibition type stock, where would I go?

Need your wisdom, guys. Took a hard look at the field. It's basically 95% creeping butterfly. Ahem. ButterFLY. No, it's BUTTERCUP! (I hate this Kindle!) Can I realistically deal with 4 acres of creeping buttercup without chemicals, or do I bite the bullet and spray? Is there an organic solution?

The build is going swimmingly (we won't talk about the cost...)
