We've had a very difficult day, dear Brodie cat hasn't been well while he's been here with us, and stopped eating a couple of days ago. He had a nice trip out into the garden on Sunday, sniffing the air end enjoying the outside, for which I am grateful. Our daughter and SiL came home yesterday from their holiday, managed to arrange vet visit this evening. Daughter came over with the GrandTwins lunch time, and she was able to have some nice time with Brodie. He didn't seem uncomfortable, and even purred when I stroked his head gently and tickled behind his ears. But he's gone to the Rainbow Bridge now, bless his dear heart. I'll miss him so much, he always came to stay with us for his holidays, he was such good company, a real Gentleman of a cat.
Daughter very upset, I gave her a big hug when they came back from vets and managed to trample over her feet! But she laughed a little when I told her about what my Dad said when our first cat (Silly) made the final trip to the vet - "He had the best care all of his life - he went private!" But we've had tears and laughter, and I'm so glad I took photos when he was out in the garden on Sunday.

I did better than fine, I have had worse dates.
Not sure what that says about me :o
That you've plenty of guts?
Seriously, glad it was a breeze.
Sorry to hear your news Maggie, but a comfort Brodie Cat passed over surrounded by folk he knew.
My trip to the dentist was unremarkable. He replaced a filling and cleaned up the one that broke two days after he did it in January. I noticed when I was last in Crediton that my expensive blonde dentist has moved on, so I guess I'm stuck with the NHS newly-qualifieds for the time being.0 -

We don't know how old he was, as he was a rescue cat. He fell on his feet with SiLand then later daughter when they got together.
But best guestimate is around 17 years.

Maggie - so sorry that Brodie is gone. What a nice time he had with you & yours. Being a rescue cat is something special indeed.
It's hard, but knowing they've had a good life is really helpful.
LIR - glad that things went well for you.
Alfie - sounds like you are as busy as ever & having interesting finds.
All the talk of piggies makes me hanker for some - would help with the bracken.
It's now wet here & quite midgied which is yuck for being outdoors.
Ebay sounds interesting for you CTC - my sales are dire. It's annoying as it's such a faff listing then when you have hardly any sales seems a waste of energy & time.
Tonight watched a very cheeky Pine marten raid the fat ball holder. Thought they were getting scoffed really quickly. Have an injured hen & I wonder if there's a connection. Lucky it survived if it was the marten as they are vicious killers who've eated dozens of my broods in the past.
Went to Applecross yesterday which is one of the most incredible journeys - stunning country we live in.0 -
Maggie so sorry to hear about Brodie Cat, he was obviously much loved and cherished. Sending hugs! :grouphug:"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0

Brodie cat was obviously well loved and cherished. It's so sad for us, nothing that can be said is ever enough, but so good that these animal-people have had a life where they have been loved so.0

Pink whistles cat is in my bad books. My cats tend to not be interested in birds that much but she just brought home some very large baby bird I cannot identify. Looked a little like a young turkey, but much darker, a solid dark brown, but that sort of shape. About the size of a coot/not tiny bantam.
As the resident parent who was meant to be taking care of me and cooking last night failed I think she was trying to pick up the slack and bring me white meat.......but still......it's not on.0 -
Hi all, reading, but frantic crazy life means little time to post without neglecting the children...
