    How do I follow that?!!

It's been a quiet day at Snave Acres, mainly because we haven't been here half the time. :D There was the usual replenishment to do, and I also wanted to gear up for all this fine weather by obtaining all the extra kit I need for the wood store roof. :j

Hmmm, Internet shopping is making more and more sense. Yesterday, I ordered an obscure bit for my brushcutter from Walsall, and it was here this morning at 8.30.

Up at Barnstaple Screw[STRIKE]fix[/STRIKE]up, however, my attempts to buy certain less obscure items, (like screws!) were met with, "Not in stock mate. " and "Computer says we have four packs, but they aren't there."

Still, there was some compensation when I returned; one of the items I failed to buy I bought about a month ago.:) I just forgot. :o Joy at discovering that was short lived though, because alongside the screws I didn't think I had, was a brand new pack of the ones I'd just bought!

Just had my daily dose of Rightmove, and in it is yet another of the houses I lived in as a child. That's all of my Devon childhood houses sold in the past 4 years!

    http://images.vebra.com/tp/11431/10/DETAILS/10050700.pdf

This one we rented shortly after moving to the area. I suppose we only lived there a year or so, but the farmer next door gave me the run of his land and I loved it. He'd show me things like how to trap moles, and now I wish I'd paid more attention! :o

In those days, this house had just two bedrooms and the garden was small. There was a drop of about 3' into the field behind, but that's been filled and the field is now the garden.

£375k seems a bit steep, but North Molton has come up in the world since the days when it was poor relation to the town 3 miles south. ;)

Right better go and leave the chickens out....

Edit: CTC, yes, it might be worth a visit to doctors if you're feeling low, try to stay positive.

Itsme, I know about feeling old, police dont seem just younger now, they're hardly out of nappies! :(

Dave, you can never have enough screws.

Well, pretty sure my spuds are blighted, I'm taking off diseased foliage but may need to cut right back, crying shame as tubers are still small after late sowing. Other seeds sown a few weeks back (after disastrous first sowing) mostly doing ok, plenty of greens on offer. Our big honeysuckle is in full flower, covered in bees

Auction buys Wednesday mostly poor, but hope to know later today whether a couple of maps are genuine 17th century and whether a ceratin school in Bath wants some 1920s photos of its sports teams. Got some 1920/30s small photos of holidays in Devon as well, I'll see if I can find any of towns near to daydreamers! We've been expecting a downturn after two great months, this looks like it, no high value sleepers, mostly carp :(

    Ctc's, seriously. Doctor.

Imagine this was one of your kids, or you were someone's dog and the owner or parent was not taking the son or the dog to the vet or gP. What would you think?

Just make the ruddy appointment. :)

CTC, the others are right. I felt thoroughly evil when stressed out by Mr Dog at his worst. It was the powerlessness that got to me most and I was losing the plot. I didn't want to put down roots here.....We put the architect on hold for six months or more.

Things change, too slowly most of the time, and then too fast when you look back. Those two lads of yours will soon be fully independent men, so enjoy them while you can, even if they don't always agree with your plans! ;)

Our kids have flown, and so we find there's a new problem of defining our role now. DD2 is up in London exhibiting at the Free Range in Brick Lane. She isn't coming home this summer....:(

CTC - As LIR says, get yourself to the vets ;)
As Dave says, feeling everyone is out to get you is par for the course when you try to do anything involving your property/land ....... they usually are.... but not worth making yourself ill about if at all possible.

I can't remember ever eating a turkey egg so can't say whether they'd be strong or not. If so, they should still be usable in cooking/baking.

I have appointments coming up over the next few weeks with all manner of bods (including MP) about the ridiculous situation with the property. Not sure they can change much but maybe someone can pick it all apart & find a way out. We live in hope. As someone pointed out to me "The problem is not that you can't sell it but that nobody (other than a cash buyer) can buy it because of stupid bureaucracy".

Dave - I'm sure you know but North Molton was traditionally always the big town down there. It was where the mines & the military lived. South Molton was the minor place until the railway arrived.
I'm not surprised that all your old homes are up for sale. It seems like half the county is trying to move out.

Sorry to hear everyone's Baying is going through a quiet time. Would this be because buyers are keeping money back for summer holidays?

Good for you it's me, I'm thrilled you are seeing you mp. It's. a silly situation and you need to engage the right amount of charm and heat and feminine backbone. I have EVERY confidence in you. I'm glad the sun is here to recharge your batteries at just the right time.

Thanks LIR. It's a bit like Custer's Last Stand (& we know how that ended _pale_ ) but I'm sick of all the running between EAs, Council, Planning etc. when they are all only acting with their own vested interests.
I decided I needed to enlist the help of people who know individuals (our :D) rights & so won't be given the run around.

I'm not going to pin my hopes on it being resolved as that could end in tears &, even if it were to be, there'd still be the usual wait for the right buyer - which around here seems to be measured in several years - but, frankly, even getting to that stage would feel like a battle won.

I didn't know, though I knew about the mines at Heasley Mill and the tramroad down the valley, all long disused by the time I got there.

As a kid, I tried smelting ore found at the mine workings, so I learned all about the need for catalysts (and probably more welly in the heat department!) I wasn't successful. :(

I think there may be different reasons why the three houses have come on the market in fairly rapid succession, but the main one is simply that most people move a lot. Two of them also look attractive if caught at the right time, but they're not that great to live in. ;)
