IHS - I must lift my geraniums before they get frosted. Some folks take fresh cuttings each year, but I never did - mind you I don't get that nice shop bought shape to mine.
The rowan berries are really vibrant & heavy this year, supposed to be sign of a :eek::eek:......bad winter.0 -

The wood is free if I cut it originally. Some of the stuff I've had in store is now 2 years old.
Yes, the sweep knows how to charge, but he has a certificate, you see.
In my ignorance I thought that without all sweepy's gear I'd cover the living room in soot, Beano style:rotfl:, but in fact very little stuff is needed. I had rods in the barn, so just used those. Most of the material which falls is carbonised and in lumps, not soot, though obviously there's some of that as well.
Down in the polytunnel I've had to take some peppers off, as they're collapsing under the weight of fruit in some cases. I probably packed them in a bit tight, so they've grown upwards more than usual, but the main thing is that they're being productive.
Car was not pulling from standing starts and flashing up the spanner sign the other day, so I resigned myself to a garage visit.:( Of course, the damn thing flew all the way there and back, coming up the hill faster than I've ever done it before!
But it can't lie to us. We will plug it into the garage man's machine on Wednesday and it'll talk!!! :rotfl:0 -

MVF had several sorts last time I looked. You might want the ones that lock. Otherwise, if you forget and twist anti-clockwise, the rods may come apart somewhere up the chimney...
Mine are bog standard, so I'm living dangerously.
Make sure whatever you decide have on the end will go through the hole in the flue pipe. I didn't check.
Also, if you are working through a flue pipe, examine the blotting paper stuff (it's not really paper!) behind the metal access panel, as this deteriorates and you may need more from a stove shop to seal the plate when you replace it.
Those are my top tips.0 -

We're going next month, and not for work. DH's health over the winter is paramount and I intend to take an extended holiday from work to make sure he eats well and gets sunshine and fresh air (which I also need). We'll see how it all works out!
There is also a chance of some daydream stuff going on but I'll keep you posted... Gotta get there first!"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0
