I just need to get my act together, being tired has led to a few takeaways here and there and the costs soon mount

I think the issue is that we are still living the way we have for years. We pay lip service to cutting costs and only buying things we need and not things we want, but putting it into practise is hard. Up until now it didn't really matter, now however it does and I/we need to get a grip!

There is no excuse as I have been an avid MSE follower for years and know all the hints and tips and strategies, I just need to put them all into practise.

Right. NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!!! As of now I am going to make those changes.

I am still playing catch up on things that have gone pear shaped this year...which means running round like a blue arrrsse fly just try and not to go backwards..:rotfl:

hopefully by next year things will have started to even out, and we will start seeing proper progress

I've been up on the wood shed roof this morning doubling all the fixings. We ran out, so the sheets were put up in a less than wonderful way, but there was no forecast of gales then. ;)

Now madly bagging up all the dry aggregate, before the rain sets in.....There's no way I can move one of those dumpy bags myself! :rotfl:

The rain and wind has been here since 9ish this morning, and no signs of letting up, so its a busy day sitting on our backsides watching tv:cool::D:rotfl:

We have discussed food issues though, so we have decided to have a big fry up for tea, so hubby will have to brave this weather to go and get some (all) the stuff we need for it:D

will have to blame a friend who posted a pic of a fry up on mugbook for that:rotfl:

Just incredible hail storm - can't hear myself think. Like living in a drum.

Amazing photo IHS. I lost all my house plants a couple of years ago when we had a hard frost. They were in the shed. So I envy you your Agarve. I had a very old two. Mind you the points always found you out.

Rummer it is hard to stick to budgets etc. I also fail, but we do not have many things like CD, video addictions. I never buy anything such as that.
One of our biggest expenditures is car fuel as living in no man's land it is a matter of travelling miles everywhere to see clients. We try & do 10 things at once when we go anywhere. We have the wood burner which we are starting to light now it's chillier. I can get a pot of stew etc on there & also always have a kettle on simmering. The wood is here on the croft - free, just needs sawing etc. Take aways are very expensive & there are none to hand - so that isn't a temptation. We like the TV dinner curries from LIDLs & they are really cheap. Maybe you could keep some of them in & pop them in the oven when you can't be bovered? I know...not that healthy, but sometimes all that cooking from scratch isn't possible, or it can all become a bit of a chore.

CTC - you have to take the tablets if they make a difference. I have stuff to take & must take it twice a day. I even have a pack of tabs in my bag in case I get stuck anywhere as I really don't want to be ill again. I'm in remission & that's how I want to stay.

The shop here is closing & the PO. The woman is going back to London - thanks be to witch craft that's she's going. I hadn't been in for over 18 months as she was so nasty, not only to me but to a lot of people. I've never met such rasicm before & it was ridiculous & very bad even for the elderly. The woman had obviously serious problems upstairs. BUT - we now have even less here. She's run it so down that she has no business to sell, so it's closing. For ages now we have been travelling 20 mile+ round trip to post & little shop but it aint great.

Had enough now; raining hard and blowing enough to drive me inside, but I've brought peppers, courgettes, toms, garlic and onions with me, so I'll make a veggie curry and put some pre-cooked chicken into it. :D

Those Lidl curries taste OK if messed around with and added-to, but then I looked and found they were made with very foreign chicken, so that put me off. Trouble is, although I can be inside an Indian take-away in 5 minutes from here, it's not good. Everything they make seems to taste the same; in fact I think they just make one thing and colour it differently! :( So, no temptation there.

I am definitely the frugal one here. :A DW isn't bad, and she means well, but never having had to struggle, she isn't in the same league as me for tightness. I've just watched her order over £30 worth of Christmas tat.....I say nothing more than I can help, but sometimes things slip out! :rotfl:

Our PO closed after the idiots who started it up again decided to abandon the whole venture inside a couple of months. A nice couple now run the shop, but there are technical reasons why they cannot do the PO side of things. I try to go there for odd items, but the shop isn't on my normal routes from here, so I forget. :o

Picked lots today, partly to try to keep stuff cropping, so will freeze some and give some away. But heavens have been open most of day so a fire lit and comfy inside.

Need to get back into harness on the Bay to pay for recent extravagances, especially as we should make the most of the shop subscription.

Choille, sounds good and bad news on your PO, its a shame that the recent couple may have ended the chance of a convenient PO for you to use :(

CTC/Rummer, dont beat yourselves up, we'll soon be looking forward to 2014 and new arrivals/building progress :)
