helloooooo.:D
it is blowing a mega hooley here...:o
it was fine -ish this morning but built up as the day went on. i dropped off some fruit bushes to my friend at her allotment this morning [friend who's hubby died last year, who is doing the animal sitting now ....] i gave them to her as a good cause and she gives me odd bits plus looks after my animogs if im away.
i then took mum to see pops. he was ok all snugly in bed.:D
came home, lit my fire [which kept blasting out smoke due to the high winds etc...:( ] just gotta put away chooks etc, feed foxes, feed wuffers and then im in my barf and then sat in front of fire till bed time...:rotfl:
poor dog is still not right... im convinced she has something IN her throat. shes had medicine which seems no difference . so may get her back to vets tomorow. she is 12 , bit slow/tubby but always been fit. poor baby...:(
im looking after big dog for a week too so its musical chairs in the lounge at mo :rotfl::rotfl:
well batton down the hatches folks...looks like this one is nation wide....
right , off to chase stupid chickens now !!:rotfl:0 -
Very blustery here too and some heavy rain. My poor marigolds are looking rather sorry for themselves.
Spent a very pleasant couple of hours at a friends this afternoon. She was looking after her daughters puppy - an 11 week old yellow lab who kept them up all last night crying. So it was sleep deprivation all round but they were consoled with some choc cake we bought with us. This is him exhausted by a busy life:
Dave, you seem to spend a lot of time up on roofs, are you 'battening down the hatches' ready for winter?
Alfie hope your dog starts to improve soon. We have a 13 year old mixed breed who is really starting to show her age. We have recently started medicating her for her stiff joints which has helped her be a bit more comfortable. Hasn't made her any less grumpy though
DH went to Tesco after he dropped me off at my friends and purchased some 'bags of guilt' (nice food) as he is off on a 'cycling' holiday tomorrow for 5 days. So no money saving there I'm afaid.
Doesn't look like we are going to exchange contracts before 26th so we will be paying rent up until the end of November. Had hoped things with the purchase would move a bit more quickly as it would save us over £700 in rent. Still at least it will leave plenty of time to swap over between the rental and the new house. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

:oDave - yes, it is very unethical eating fast food & it isn't something I do very often at all at all, just the odd occasion of sheer jiggerdness. I do think that it's a battle sometimes between being ethical & saving cash - sometimes it isn't possible to be good all the time.
I need to go & find things I've sold - what a muddle I've made. I could do with Kim & Aggie to sort me out.
We have streams running all over the croft - what a heavy fall of water. Bet roads have been washed out with this lot.0 -

My resolve, when I cannot find a bunny stroking takeawayis vegetarian. This works best alone. I find it the height of decadence to get, just for me, some rice and monks vegetables or noddles with tofu and mixed veg or whatever. Delectable! Or bridal Bahji and a chapati, or some Dahl and naan.
Weekend was nice but a bit of a washout,0 -
One of my 'rescue' orchids has flowered
Can't recall how much I paid for this one, maybe £2 from B&Q after it was marked-down having 'gone over' 6 months ago. Mealy bugs are a nuisance though...
Mind you the points always found you out
True, the agave goes with the almost as spiky aloe, both have been back inside for a few weeks now. The geranium I picked up for £1 at a recent B&Q sell-off, will need to read up on over wintering it...
Now it's turned cooler, spent some time fitting a concealed closer to the door between the lounge and hall. Hopefully it'll at least cut drafts having the door always shut behind you.0 -

Oh I realise it's not sensible to be a martyr to ethical. If the ready meals are British produce then I accept them if I'm kernackered and too late/tired to cook, albeit knowing that there won't be 'happy chicken' inside. After all, the same is true of most Indian restaurant food.
But tonight I'm balancing, so the curry's made entirely from our own veg, :A to which I'll add pre cooked free range chicken.
...But then it's been raining, so I've been confined to barracks and I've had plenty of time to cook.
Our stream still wasn't running properly when I looked a few hours ago. It's dry and breezy now, with a bit of blue sky and we are still resisting lighting the fire (mainly because the chimney hasn't been swept yet.)

Nothing much to report here - been peeing down most of the day, blowing a bit of a hooley, spent pretty much all day on the internet and... oh yes, I'm finally debt-free. Just in time. But it won't currently let me change my sig.
Edit: Still won't let me change it, I've tried with both Firefox and Chrome. I'll try again tomorrow."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -

Yes we are, but nobody wants to hear about it when all here are preparing for winter and chilly dampness :rotfl:Everything's progressing nicely with that. I leave work on Friday - after my wonderful experience on the M25 on Friday 6th I shan't be sorry to see the back of it!"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Can't say I love winter, but it has its compensations, like not needing to mow the grass. We also get things done that there's no time for in the warmer months.
I gave in this morning and swept the chimney. Now we can light the woodburner any time, so long as we only use the free wood.;)
You won't remember, but last year at this time we had the chimney swept 'professionally,' and 6 weeks later the flue was blocked. I could have called the sweep back again, but having lost faith, I borrowed some gear and did it myself. It lasted fine, all the rest of winter.
So, that's £45 saved and I'll do it again close to Christmas.
Bright & very breezy here with occasional downpours, but it's been dry the past 2 hours.:)0
