No, we haven't & it's getting me down. We have a case of vanishing roofers..........
Well sounds like you are mega organised RAS - good for you.
Cellars what a wonderful idea.
We ran away today & went to an auction which appeared impossibly busy & then we saw the camera crews. It was filming episode 7 & 8 of Antiques Road Trip. We came away & went over to a church antique place that a couple of clients use a lot as they do wonderful salvage of all sorts of places - banks, churches factories etc.& that was interesting. I ended up buying a massive cupboard ( 1.6 metres wide x 0.7 M depth x 2.25M high )that belonged to John Burns the artist guy & writer who did Tutti Fruitti etc. It is ideal to paint & shelve out for the kitchen. It was a snip & he knocked money off & is storing it for us & offered to deliver it when we are ready - wow.
The antique road trip fellas are going there tomorrow so we picked the right day as wouldn't want caught up in that faffing nonsense.
Does anyone see anything wrong in mixing painted furniture with old pine? I have to dream...
Shouldn't be buying stuff & cluttering up the house build but I'm so fed up with no progress.
i love all mix and match free standing kitchens..:D
if mine was bigger i would have that.
if you get a mixture of tones it looks fab.
the best one ive seen was sort of turqoisey green [bit peacocky ]and oranges. but faded look not stark colors.
DS took me for a meal tonight where the owner/manager ? was the female version of basil faulty.:rotfl: she earwigged conversations and if anyone mentioned thier food [in general conversation] she swooped and started telling them that it was FRESH, it was THE BEST, etc. i stupidly said to my lad " oo im starving, wheres the food"....she swooped. lecture on only the best took longer to cook etc. i waited till she'd finished and said " thankyou for that, can i continue the private conversation i was having with my son now ? "
water off a ducks back !!:o
asked us what we were going to do when we left ????
i said "son was off to get rat assed and im off to smoke a joint"
her face was a picture...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Goodness - would love to have seen her face. Some folks, eh?
The heavens have just re opened & there's torrential rain again.
We have loads of mushrooms Alfie - I must dig out the book you kindly sent me to identify them as I've never seen so many as there are at the moment, must be a good season.0 -
Choille...think of a Victorian scrubbed top table...pine top, painted legs......you'll be fine. We have a mixture in our kitchen, a painted butchers block ( grey) and table( greenly blue...surprise colour choice for me, eh;). ) and every thing else is pine. It looks good IMO, even though its 'temporary, people often comment favourably' which is good as my temporary is years and years.0

We have a very small restaurant here, run by husband & wife. She cooks and he serves, but if they're not busy, he'll sit down with customers and share a drink or two, or three. He certainly drank two to every one of mine.
Maybe not great for that candlelit, romantic dinner.
I think it's more of a hobby for them, and it saves the guy having to go to the pub.0 -
morning all:j
Alfie I would have loved to see her face too, TBH that type of behaviour would def put me off going there again..
Choille, go for it, it sounds fab, The kitchen in the ranch is going to be a total mish-mash well in fact the whole house will be:D.
Sorry been a bit quiet the last day or two, had an event organised at work, and it went really well, so organising another one for October.. Plus we have a biker wedding to go to day, and then party back at their clubhouse.. so sleeping in the back of the van tonight, so I have made sure there is plenty of old welsh blankets, as there is nothing worse than being cold when sleeping in a van:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Happy belated birthday Alfie! I'd have loved to see that woman's face too.
All progresses here, flights booked and first night's accommodation sorted. Beyond that...we're into the unknown! Just a little nervous, not rampaging mental stress yet :rotfl:"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
We're waiting to see what the weather is doing. Annoying waste of time. Last two weekends forecasts have been wrong and mucked up plans. This weekend should be painting (again) but it looks like pit might rain, we could have done an hour and have it dry had we started early, but it looked wetter then......
So much to paint......0 -
LIR it is the same here atm, I woke up to glorious sunshine and now it is dull and looks as if it is about to bucket with rain which is annoying as I was really looking forward to being outdoors in the garden.
We got some fabulous new yesterday  the first good news (baby aside!) that we have had in a long time so went out to celebrate. Admittedly I was sipping fresh orange and lemonade while others had something a bit more sparkly but it was lovelyOn the plus side I have woken up feeling grand but I doubt the people celebrating with us will feel that good :rotfl:
Just looked out the window and that is the rain on, it is absolutely pouring downOh well clearing the nursery today it is then!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Right im off to take my old lady to local hospital for a check up [eyes i think ?]0 -
Cheered up amazingly. Hot now, wish we'd started painting earlier! Oh well!
RAS, of you are about, I was wrong, we do have some sloes...on the very old blackthorn tree. No plums worth mentioning though..
And our young Bradley has set lots and lots of fruit, its weighed down by them...only....it doesn't look like a Bradley to me0
