well, today i " got" a pair of new TOGGI wellingtons.;)
but they are 4's. they are roomy make of boots but not sure...

thanks for the info on the buttercups, was just pondering on the idea of 'maybe' having a couple of sheep for the freezer.
LIR looks as though your bathroom will be huge...
Rummer.. as you all know we have a 'huge' budget for getting the house water tight and liveable :rotfl: so any labouring or non-skilled work, we will do.
now that the scaffolding is down from the front of the house ( still work to be done there though) we need to dig up part of the concrete path which is right up against the wall of the house, to put a French drain in, to get the moisture/damp away from the house.Work to live= not live to work0 -
morning all:j:j
rain has stopped, and there is a nip in the air, but by all accounts weather is supposed to be hot next week.
Rhiwie... I had to buy a swede yesterday too, and the price:eek::eek::eek::eek:, and don't get me started on potatoes:mad::mad::mad:
The last week or so this hubby and I have been talking about a polytunnel, and getting raised beds ready for next spring. Not only for food for us, but for the animals too, to suppliment their hard feed, Ok we are back getting the waste food from a supermarket again, but with the higher price, it just isn't making economic sense as its too expensive for us.( compared to the price of the hard feed).. which is such a pitty because all they will do is chuck it in their compactor.
Where is the cheapest place I can buy strawberry runners? The price on strawberry plants this year seemed a bit OTT to me, well most plants did:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
I would think the cheapest place for strawberry runners would be an ad on Freegle or Freecycle. A bit like my woodland laurels!
We have no soft fruit started yet, as we removed all the old. With our population of blackbirds, we'll never see any until the fruit cage is completed. We took some cuttings of blackcurrants, and I bought and propagated from a loganberry, but nothing else. Hopefully next year.....:o
Gardens open in the little town today, so that will be nice.:) Good job it wasn't yesterday!
We need a French drain along the back of the barn to replace the one that doesn't do anything. There is a slight problem in having nowhere obvious for it to discharge that won't affect others, but the water all flows down into the yard as it is anyway.:(0 -
CTC, I'm going to Sheffield next week. I don't know what the garden there will be like after not having seen it all summer, but it was overrun with strawberry runners last year. I'm going to try and nick (well, not really, because it is our garden, even though it's rented) whatever can be transplanted to Wales. I don't think it's the best time of year to do it, but it's the only time I'll get. There is a fabulous raspberry bush that I bought from Costco a few years ago. I don't know how a bit of that will do in Wales. It's a different environment all together.
If there are any, can I post strawberry runners to you?
I've loads of little things sprouting in the garden. I've noticed a lot of hazelnut saplings. In fact saplings galore in the woodland. I need to get to the neighbours and see if they are interested in any or want to do some swapsies. I assume that everyone else is overrun by the things I have but in reality, that's possibly not the case.0 -

CTC there is usually an apple type festival at the botanic gardens in autumn where you can take apples to be identified, plus there's nice trees to buy and cider
I'm hunting for a bath tub ATM, we need to replace ours and I want a really outrageous colour, seen a 20's green enamel one on t'internet...CTC was your suite up at the ranch yellow or am I thinking of someone else's I've seen?!
Local auction wasn't up to much today - seemed a lot more peeps there and a lovely grandmother clock that was there from the last time, having not sold I presume, and which I left a bid for went for a small fortune to someone else. And a lovely blanket I put back down in a local charity shop yesterday was gone by the time I went back for it today...meh!
On a brighter note my bargain (ish) chesterfield furniture was delivered today and I'm so pleased with it, so comfy, and can get two dogs on the sofa with me again! It makes me want to redecorate right now and put a bit more TLC into the house, esp as I've got a quiet week on the farm...I've also been watching Kirsty's recent tv programs on upcycling etc so I'm all full of ideas0 -

Alfie hope you hand heals quickly- sounds painful.
Managed to get the sheep sheared, all but Dougal who hid & will await shearing this week ...hopefully. What a pain.
Really stormy here & wet. I have piles of holiday let washing to do/dry etc, but a bit hopeless at the mo.
Our rasps are good, but the balckbirds & hens are scoffing them as they ripen.
Will catch up with the posts soon, dashing about like a loony at the mo.0 -
*whispers* Well it looks like a move, albeit temporary, might finally be on the cards. More info to come as plans are firmed up!:j"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0

Rozee, that would be fab, but what if the tenant has cleared the garden????
Asked on FB about scaffolding boards, had a response already, so hubby is going to have a look this afternoon, they want a £1 each for them, they said they don't know what they are like, so I am not really holding my breath, but worth a lookWork to live= not live to work0 -
