    Alfie......

You know I said I didn't want any thing? That big grey who is lame, its a fetlock, (just took ages to bring him in from the field) so he might be in for a couple of weeks.....I don't suppose you have transport for lori do you? If so I'd love to borrow the little tyke. He'd get some handling and time off the grass and the grey would have company......but I don't know if you have a trailer? I know we talked about this months ago with ruby, but I don't know if you are still interested? In any case, ATM he (or a pair) might be useful.

Anyway, this has answered a question for me. I really need a new horse, just for this sort of thing. Would love to find something on loan really.

Spent the whole afternoon from 13.30 in the small town, visiting gardens, and still couldn't get through them all! Did about 15, but stopped to chat with lots of owners, so that was good going!

In an old town like ours it's fascinating getting past the facades of the cottages, which are sometimes arranged somewhat higgledy-piggledy out at the back. This leads to lots of walled-in spaces. Some of the older houses have walled gardens anyway. So, a wealth of different environments have been created, partly by design and partly by accident. Even some of the under 20 years old properties have 200 year old trees at the ends of their gardens, which is both blessing and curse! ;)

Anyway, it was all very interesting, and I was surprised what had survived the recent severe winters, apparently unscathed. A theme which ran through the majority of gardens was that of providing a pond with the idea of helping wildlife. Very encouraging.:)

....And the best bit was coming home to find the Cooking Fairy had been here in our absence. We gave one of our friends some veg/toms this morning, and there in our conservatory were 3 big take away containers of veg curry and a couple of home made pizzas. :D:D:D

that's a good exchange Davesnave, wish I had a food fairy:D especially if they made pizza.

Its so nice for the villagers to have an 'open garden day'

Full up now, just scoffed my sunday dinner..

Bought hubby the log splitter, and used the 16%off voucher, Hubby 'tried' it this afternoon, OMG... it is going through the logs like butter.. with the amount of logs we potentially got to split.. it will be well worth it.

The scaffolding boards hubby went to see are ok, especially at a £1 each, BUT they are the 13ft ones, so will have to cut them on site, to bring them home.. Told hubby to do 8ft lengths:p

LIR I agree that you need another horse ;)

Dave How lovely to see what others have done with their gardens.

We made it to the dump :j and hubby has gone back out into the garden to do more. I was both  and  at the things people had thrown away at the dump loads of the things we saw could have been used or repaired, what a waste.
